Ha, thanks guys! I can help you out if you need one. Dave, any interest in making some original-ish flanges or is no one that picky? (The ones I had made were just from flat stock)
I have Capristo bypass and Tubi headers, my OEM Y pipe needs welding on the heat shield as it is rattling at the moment. All these mods are reversible and for me getting the sound just right is more important than originality for my enjoyment of the car. I was going to get a fabspeed one but the price is high for what it is. If James is keen to make one I'm a buyer!
I have some questions regarding the Kreissieg pipes. How much power gain do either of these y-pipes make over the factory unit? If it doesn't produce more power then what is the point? Where does it make that gain, and for how long? Is it a bottom end, mid range, or topped gain? Is the gain the midrange and held through the rev range? Where are the before and after dyno sheets? The reason I ask is because the purpose of bypassing the mufflers is so that you free up the restriction in the exhaust system, and thus SHOULD make more power. So........if these don't make more power then what is the point? Especially for $1500! They had better make some more power.
I'd guess the gain is minimal. A better reason would be reduced heat as they eliminate the two small cats in the stock y-pipe. And fwiw the merge on the stock y-pipe is horrible. Is basically a wall separating two pipes hitting at a 30 degree angle. Plus the one for my car will also take up the space where the bypass valve used to reside.
Just completed my collection of 3 Japanese F355 magazines and decided to fiddle around with the Google Image translator app. I love technology . “Indispensable for F1 sound reproduction” Image Unavailable, Please Login
I ordered the spiral kreissieg pipe for my 2.7, will let folks know how it goes. I'm running an unmuffled challenge exhaust with high flow primary cats and was looking at decatting the bypass, but current prices of used 2.7 pipes are similar to the kreissieg and I don't want to ruin the stock piece. I figured if I'm going to do it might as well go nuts and try out the swirl pipe.
I feel like they’re just playing with the design to tune the sound. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Agree - but removing the cats should be worth some power, and the shorter merge collector a little more still, so if it also improves sound....I figure why not?
