Universal Autosports is New York's only authorized Koenigsegg dealer, and the only authorized Koenigsegg service facility in the country. Seeing as we have a 2008 CCX on our showroom floor, we get to stare at it everyday. We would like to share a bit about the Koenigsegg with you; after all, we can't help but learn about it since we're around one everyday.

The CCX's powerplant is a twin supercharged V8 putting out over 800 horsepower. However, the engine can be tuned to run on E85 ethanol. If tuned to run on environment-friendly petrol, it will actually produce around 950 horsepower. The new CCXR will run on E85 and put out 1,000 horsepower.

The CCX on our floor is liveried in V0031 Blue with blue and cream leather and Alcantara. Most of the car is made from carbon fiber - including the body, the engine bay and part of the wheels. The CCX doesn't have a conventional ignition into which you would place the key. Rather once the fob has been used to gain entry into the vehicle, there are a few buttons with which you press a certain sequence that will then start the car. There is a knob between the seats that can be turned on or off. When turned off, the whole car is shut down, battery included. Also, when the knob is turned in the off position, it can be removed - preventing the car from being started and, subsequently, stolen. The CCX's interior is also host to a Koenigsegg logo medallion that, when removed, prevents the car from being started.

The rear glass of each and every Koenigsegg has an image of a ghost on it. Christian von Koenigsegg's first factory was in a farmhouse-looking building that burned down in 2003. Sweden allowed Koenigsegg to use a defunct fighter jet warehouse as its facility; conveniently enough, the warehouse was next to a two-mile runway, perfect for testing the car's top speed. Christian decided to buy the warehouse from the Swedish government. The warehouse that was once host to Sweden's air force - nicknamed the Ghosts - is now host to Koenigsegg. Hence the ghost on the rear glass of each car.

The Koenigsegg company is 15 years old, founded in 1993. CCX stands for Competition Coupe X; the X represents the Roman numeral ten, commemorating ten years since the completion of the first model, the CC. The doors of all Koenigsegg models open via a hinge invented by Koenigsegg called "dihedral synchro-helix actuation", which took several years to bring to fruition.

In 1987, a Swede named Sven-Harry Akesson designed and built a car called the Sethera. About 200 were made, mostly sold in Sweden. It was later redesigned and sold in other parts of Europe, as the Sethera Mk1. In the '90s, Akesson was hired to build a sports car called the Sethera Falcon. Midway, that project was put on hold. Until it was purchased by Koenigsegg, who paid Akesson to finish the design. The Sethera Falcon became the prototype for the CC.

The word Koenigsegg roughly translates to two words: Koenig, meaning king; and segg, meaning either egg or the blade end of a knife. The King's egg, or the King's blade. With Faberge fit and finish and razor sharp performance, this car is certainly fit for a king.

Can you no longer buy them from Exotic Cars at Caesars Palace in Vegas?

Thank you, Jim. It was a great honor and a pleasure to have the P4/5 at our Grand Opening. We hope to see more of your special one-off at other gatherings.

I'm not sure; we're not in any way affiliated with ECACP so we can't speak for them. Is that what you heard?

I was told by a man at Broughtons (the Koenigsegg dealer for the UK) that there would only be one dealer in America and it was ECACP...but sounds like he was wrong. Anyway having seen the CCX in person, I can say that it is an unbelievable and exceptional car, best of luck with the brand.

Thank you! ECACP was definitely once an authorized Koenigsegg dealer, that is true. But Universal is now an authorized Koenigsegg dealer, and the only authorized Koenigsegg service facility in the country.

You can still buy them, but what UA means is that only Koenigsegg authorizes them to service Koenigseggs.

UA, have you had any potential orders that could bring more CXX's into the US?

Exotic Cars at Caesars is bankrupt and their website is down. consider them gone.

As far as the Koenigsegg on your floor, is it for sale? I posted a while ago here, about how when I first saw the pictures of the car in that blue, I loved it so much it literally hurt. It is magnificent.

Thanks universal-my kid loves it. Very well built car with innovative design. Specially the doors. Reminded me of a zonda in person.

Yes, that's what we meant, thank you; and yes, we've had more orders, both potential and actual.

I really wish we had a black one here. Not that I don't like the blue one or anything, I just think a black one would look amazing. The blue, however, draws a lot of attention. It's bright and catches people off guard. We had to sweet old ladies in here earlier this week. They knew the name of the car and everything. Definitely the highlight of my day.

I have heard the same thing about ECACP. Yes, the car on our floor is for sale. Come by and have a look, whether you're in the market or not.

We were as happy to let your son sit in it as he was to sit in it. The look on his face makes it all worth while.

I had always expected that the Koenigsegg would have some quality and fitment issues - sort of like an old Lamborghini. Some may recall Martin Brundle reviewing the car in his "Supercars" DVD and stating that it the example of the CC8S he drove was just not sorted and claimed that it felt like an early prototype (it wasn't). When I saw one in person I was really impressed by the car, however. I think the team at Koenigsegg have really put together something special and I am glad to see they have made the effort to bring the cars here to the USA.

Good luck with your business. :)

Thanks! Yeah, the Koenigsegg is very impressive in person. The fit and finish are top notch; definitely nothing remote similar to a prototype.

beautiful car. especially in that blue.

I actually like the six headlight setup from the original though. i wish they had stuck with it through the design process.

Yes, we've had a few inquiries concerning the new model, the CCXR. We're hoping to have one by November.

In person, the car is surreal liveried in blue. It's impossible to look away.

Those cars are growing a lot in me too.
Had the chance to sit inside both the CCX (a Lava Orange one) and the CCXR Edition.
Very high-quality made, very "swedish" if you know what I mean.
    And truly terrific performances.
I am planning a visit to their factory in Angelholm.

It is completely different from what you get on a Veyron: the 'Segg is raw, angry, while the Veyron feels like an immensely fast GT.
Plus, the Koenigsegg CCX is manual (you can have a sequential gearbox too), and this makes it in my top 3 list, 2nd place to be exact.

I know of a deep blue US CCX, chassis #44, which was on display right at ECACP months ago: has it been sold?

One more question: are you planning to add other brands?
What about Pagani? The new C9 will be fully US compatible, unlike the Zonda...

Yes, paperwork has already been filed to become an authorized dealer for other marques. Our current pre-owned inventory is a wide array of cars: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, etc. We even had a '58 Corvette on the floor.
