It appears he was flying under visual flight rules and with the low visibility should have been in instrument flight. However, there will be a thorough investigation as to the cause.
Yes, this ^ but it also doesn't rule out a mechanical failure or other cause, still need an investigation.
There were nine angels lost today from my neighborhood. In addition to Kobe and Gianna, -Sarah and Peyton Chester (a mother and daughter). She leaves behind a husband and sophomore twin boys. -Christina Mauser (wife of Matt Mauser from Tijuana Dogs) they have 3 kids with the youngest being around 2. -John Altobelli, his wife and daughter who leave behind a 16 year old daughter.
I learned earlier that Altobelli had ties to Houston. https://abc13.com/former-uh-athlete-wife-and-daughter-killed-in-helicopter-crash/5880911/
That is absolutely saddening. The number of children that now will grow up without a parent or parents and the children that died in the crash are very tough things to think about.
I met Kobe a few times as used to play d1 Bball. At first I wasn’t a fan, he was kinda cold but with age he became more relatable. His work ethic unmatched. As a young father myself I’m Distraught Today over that news. May he and his daughter and over families Rest In Peace . This makes no sense to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So tragic to go that way... Even the newer little Cirrus single engine 4 seat aircraft have synthetic vision to see terrain through clouds and fog.
Zoom in on this picture, is that a Ferrari prancing horse on the side of his helicopter? Image Unavailable, Please Login
You too? I remember watching his flight on radar as it flew north over Nebraska, ran out of fuel in South Dakota. Air National Guard jets pacing it, pulling along side, saying the windows were all frosted over.
just found out this companies part 135 charter license was VFR only. It sounds like the pilot didn't want to get caught breaking the rules of the charter company's certification.
