I didnt want to take up anymore of the Lambo Supercar Meet thread so I moved the topic here:

It was said that The 3 best replica companys are as fellow.
    1. Hand Crafted Cars
    2. Wild Rides=excelent build quality and excellent prices
    3. NAERC=Same basic kit as the orange roadster.

Does anyone know of any Suppliers of the HandCrafted Kits ? or the website to HandCrafted ?

The company has been renamed DC supercars. website= www.Dcsupercars.com

When you go inside the website, go to products to view pictures of the now famous orange replica roadster.

V8. I do plan to use a Ferrari v8 in my custom lamborghini style replica. I have always loved the look of the Diablo but I always preferred the sound of the high revving Ferrari. I decided not to settle for each!

Kit car????? For real? I can not belive this is a topic. I say if you want a Lamborghini there are better ways to get one then buying a kit. It is the "look at me, I am fooling you, I can not really afford this car, but I can make you think I can"..I say Lamborghini should sue every kit company out there. IMO!!!

If you build a kit, make sure you love it. you will likely lose a ton of $$$ when you go to sell.

IMO kits are only for people who can't afford the real thing. But there are plenty of real F-cars in the same price range as kits, and IMO are far cooler. And you won't lose your shirt.

Consider a 308GT4, a mondial, hell a 308 is going to cost less building your own kitcar.

And for the person who wants to put an F-car engine in a lambo kit. That is nuts, unless you are jay leno. your going to pay more than an early diablo for that. and you get the maintenance issues as well.

If I want to put a ferrari engine in a car then I probably do not really care about saving money.

It is hobby. Some people build scale models of cars, I rather have a scale model I can drive. P.S. please don't insult me by offering 30 year old ferraris as alternatives instead of a replica. If I wanted a mondial I would have purchased one!

This thread wasnt opened as a "Hey i want a kit car " topic it was merely to move all the kit car talk away from the Lambo supcar thread, and with all the "Kit car this" , "kit car that" threads going on i thought it would be a good idea to keep it to a main thread. And for those that dont believe this thread is going on, please refer to the Supercar meet thread where many members said they were fooled by the three kit cars present and a few that stated they would be proud to own any three of those replicas.

A diablo with a Ferrari V8 ...sounds like a killer toy.

I was looking at www.superformance.com for their 66 replica of the LeMans winning GT40. (and in this case where are you ever going to find a 66 GT40 anymore and still be wlling to drive it -and no i dont think the new GT is a good substitute for it)

has anyone else seen replicas other than ferrari's or Lambos that might be worth it.

Allow me to help you with this

    http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=kit+car+forums&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

A 30 year old Ferrari is still a ferrari, a 20 year old Fiero with a bunch of urethane bits, regardless of how well done and the attention to detail, is still a Used Pontiac no one wanted new

The Mondial, though horriable, is still REAL....and that is still better then a kit any day. You can drive a Lamborghini, I do everyday! For around $120,000 you can get a great real diablo...just my .02

I highly doubt you have the money to even buy an engine.

This is NOT "Kit Chat" or I should say, "Wanna-be-Chat." And in my exp people with kit car get REALLY UPSET when any of the real ones show up. Most look at the real, then the fake, then laugh at the fake and the Owner!

So I am sorry but I am forced to play these cards on you...

If you read my thread I prefaced it with this is my opinion. I can certainly see why someone wouldn't care for a 30 y/o mondial.

I am not sure why you would consider that an insult though. no insult was intended.

    Maybe I'm missing something here.

    We have threads about girls.

We have threads about all kinds of cars.

We have threads about girls on cars, in cars, around cars.

Why can't we have a thread about kit cars? The guys who build them know it's a fakey-doo car, and the guys who own the reals ones do too.

Does the thought of a replica P4, that costs $250,000 also cause this consternation for you guys?

Why not just back away from the thread if you're not interested, instead of dumping 25 lbs. of **** on these guys, even if they are 16 year old wanna be's?

If they want to talk replicars, and are doing it in a polite thread that isn't stepping on another guy's thread, I say let 'em.

Well, can't we petition Rob for a new forum? ReplicaChat.com? Slot it under LamborghiniChat.com.

Okay, but at least not in the Lambo section. I would be fine with it in the Cars/Motorcycles/etc area. I come to this section to look at pics of Lambos and read about them, not fake ones.

Isn't there a difference between a replica and a kit car?

Replica - stays true to the original as regards dimensions, specs, and should look identical to the original with the exception of not being a factory built car.

Kit car - ummm....its a....well its kind of like......gosh.....bbzzzz....let's see. Ok its a reincarnation of a Pontiac Fiero...actually a Fiero on an episode of Dr. 90210.

Seriously though, either way they are all cars and their owners deserve respect....and they also ought to give respect. You would probably learn more about cars from a kit car owner than from an actual owner......question is whether that information is stuff you really WANT to know.

I took it the wrong way, I apologize. I have heard that line from so many people and it is just starting to aggreviate me. I have talked to Cauley Ferrari in Bloomfield hills Michigan about which ferrari engine would be good for my replica and they tried to convinve me to by a 1995 spider. Why can't people just understand I want something different.

P.S. Im not 16, and do not tell me anything about replicas being built on pontiacs. I have covered that whole issue before in another thread. Like 505 T said "A replica is different from a kitcar", and a kitcar built on a feiro is not a replica.

Some people on this website had questions about replicas, I just ansewered them nothing more and nothing less.

I do not understand it. If I hated replicas with a passion and would never intend on buying one, I would not feel the need to read about them or debate with people who do.

Neither me nor any other person who is interested in kit cars has said they are better than the originals. Everytime I see a Ferrari or Lamborghini drive by the kid inside of me emerges just like all other car enthusaist. Just because I want to create a custom replica does not mean I am strange. Hell turn on the television, I see people spending 10 million dollars for a model train set or 2 million for their daughters 16th birthday party. In this world is spending 100k for a replica really that strange?

By the way SDortonF40 if that is your car in the picture congratulations on owning a fine piece of automotive history.
