Always nice to see a video about the 550, although considering it a front-mid engine car is a lttle bit optimistic (the engine sits on the front axle, not behind - a 599 is a better match for the mid-front qualification)...

 

Yup, ours are just front-engined. Hard to do front-mid on a 2500 mm wheelbase. The 599 was stretched to 2750 mm to pull that off.

 

My take on the video was;

1. The car sounded really good! I wonder what exhaust it had on it??
2. Jodie was very emotional about this car which will no doubt help to drive further interest in these cars!
3. I can't believe she had a WSR car in the past! One of ten RHD drive cars!

 

550's were delivered into Australia, in fact due to the climate ,imports from moist n salty places trade at a discount.

 

Yes that was a really dumb comment that guy made!

Of course they were sold new in Australia!

Didn‘t check that „Kidd Collection“ theme…

If i understand correct in an earlier video she promoted the stockholder business from „The Car Crowd“
so she didn‘t bought the 550 she only is one of the stockholders on it.

If she like the concept ok, 550 video is always welcome but buying a percentage of a car with stockholders
in the tens or hundreds you can‘t call „starting my own car collection“…

They may have jumped the gun on their purchase!

 

Our 30 y/o son wants to buy an exotic within a year. (I am not old ). My suggestion was for him to buy a nice 550 to drive.

What other reasonably priced 2 seat V-12 with a 6spd manual is available. So much crap is now Very expensive!

 

If by “reasonably priced” you mean $150-200k for a 30 year old then sure it’s a great choice.

 

Take the back seats out of a 456 and Ta-da.. 2 seat gated V12 for +/-100k

 

I did not know a good 550 is priced at 150K and up.

I would not recommend buying a Hellcat or new Corvette (as a weekend ride) and face depreciation.

Of course the 550 has the costs associated with mechanical upkeep.

 

The cheapest manual V12 you will find is going to be an Aston Martin. Fortunately most of the depreciation of the DB7/DB9 has also likely happened
