    Hello,

My 612 key paint is getting worn out. Is it possible to get new covers from Ferrari? Paint?

I really hate the looks of it (compere with the spare key). Am i being picky? :)

    Thanks.

If my primary key gets worn I would just swap with the spare key. By the time the second key is shot the car is likely not so revered and thus not a big deal. - best

Not cheap - FCI (NC) charged me $700 for a new 612 key.

And it was in the standard aluminum finish (not the same as the exterior paint on my car).

Egad. I promise not to lose mine. Perhaps airbrush some corsa red then clear coat for toughness?

If that's rosso corsa perhaps you could get touch up paint from the dealer. And then use the clear coat as N.O. said. Don't forget to clay bar it first. :D

Actually I'm glad I read this. I'm not going to mix my key with all that loose change in my pocket any more.

You are not being too picky and don't feel too bad. I looked into replacing my nicked up one for my 599 and it is $1100.00. My pristine spare is in a leather box and I just take it out and look at it sometimes!

My key looked like yours. Used some touch up paint with a brush and while it is far from perfect it looks much better. After paint dried- some deeper divots required more coats- used some polish and wax.

This is a very relevant post. My (only) key is all hacked up. I had a friend repaint it with standard paint and it lasted about a month before it looked like crap again. I have now purchased epoxy appliance paint (in silver) and will re-do the key and expect that the epoxy paint will last.

Be careful when opening your key as the little glass module that interacts with the security system is very fragile and can fall out and break. If it does, you will need to replace the key for $700 plus an hour labor to program it.

My detailer has repainted the key - looks like new for several months already. He used a genuine ferrari rosso corsa paint.

You could either tape it up, sand it, and repaint it yourself or contact a body shop to see if they'd be able to do it. I can't imagine they'd charge very much to repaint it.
