At his age how many years could he have "worked hard?" And please, don't call me a 'hater'; the term seems so childish. I take it that anyone who opposes another opinion is considered either 'jealous' or a 'hater'......how juvenile! Let's not turn FChat into the National Enquirer.
Ryan's is the only F430 I can recall being on Rob's show. Not sure if the biebs bought it from Ryan though.
Now we're going to ask how many years he's "worked hard?!" Why does it matter? Quite frankly, I think it's irrelevant. This is America, this is capitalism. He has used his gifts and talents and put in emotional labor to make something that people wanted to buy and he profited off of it. He didn't hurt anyone or take anything away from anyone. I say he deserves everything he has. It wasn't given to him; he worked for it. My guess, given his musical talent (yes, he's talented. I hate his music with a passion, but he can play drums, guitar, piano and sing and it's all self taught) is that he's worked hard since he was pretty young. He put himself out there, met the right people, maybe he got a little lucky and he's been successful. I say good for him owning a Ferrari. I never called anyone a hater, just trying to challenge the other points of view here. I also when people criticize me for driving a 996 at age 18 that I paid for by myself as a result of my own emotional and physical labor. I've worked hard, taken risks and earned it. It wasn't a stretch for me to pay cash for it at all... it was a fairly small portion of my net worth/income and I love cars, so why not? Life is short. He's in the same situation on a much, much, much larger scale. Good for him for owning one.
I'm kind of depressed... Of all the people in the world, I never thought I'd be defending Justin Bieber... and of all places, on a Ferrari forum!
I wasn't challenging you or criticizing you. When I was your age I owned an E-Type Jag and that was in the mid-60's. All I'm saying is luck has a lot to do with it; more so than hard work. Many work hard and never gain financial freedom or big salaries. As is with this Bieber kid, it was luck that put him where he is. There are many out there with as much talent, if not more, whose names will never be known. Hard work my friend....nope....that's a small part of the equation! It's the breaks one gets in life that counts. I was able to retire when I was 37 yrs old, that was 30 years ago as I'm now 67. Was I able to do it because of hard work....partly yes, but a lot of it had to do with luck i.e. being in the right place at the right time. Yes, I was a shrewd business man, but luck also played its part!
LOL. I'm not in the hater category and don't resent anyone owning a ferrari or being mega rich etc. My concern is the risk for this lad. If you don't believe there's not an increase risk for adolescent drivers you should talk to auto insurers whose profitability in a capitalistic market depends on accurate risk assessment. Do you have children, Casey? I aplaud your early success but I wonder if you would feel it a good idea if your 17 year old son came into a 360 to cruise around with his friends. If you don't have children please don't answer until you do.
I'm fully aware that I am, and totally happy to be, an old white guy. as Louis CK says... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG4f9zR5yzY[/ame] but still, there's a lot of haters on this forum that can't handle people not like them having the same nice things they have. weak.
Oh I know you weren't challenging me, my miscommunication there! No worries! I agree to an extent. I agree that there are many people with just as much talent whose names will never be known. I agree that a lot of it is luck. But it's also what he's done with that luck. It's not like he's sitting around all day/night being spoon fed millions of dollars. He's on tour, he's writing music, he's recording, he's doing photo shoots, interviews, etc. I've been lucky too. Being born into a family where my father owns his own business and has mentored me has given me incredible advantages. I won't dispute luck as a factor in success. Congrats to you on your early retirement. Hope you're enjoying it.
Understood. I do believe that, my response wasn't directed at your post per se. I do not have children. I'm 18. Seeing what my friends have done with their cars and what most teenagers are capable of doing... HECK NO. Horrible idea. Generally speaking, high performance cars + young drivers = recipe for disaster. Every kid, including myself, is always one choice away from making that disaster happen. I've had a little bit different experience from most teens, so maybe I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt with this. I've been passionate about cars since I was little, so when my dad bought a 997, he let me drive it quite often. I probably put 15,000 miles on that car. As I've mentioned already, I recently bought a 996. I think I've managed to handle the responsibility because I genuinely love the cars, I love the way they drive; I respect them. Cars are my passion. I also realize the consequences. To me, there's just a lot of grey area with the whole thing... I think where kids really get into trouble is when they want the cars to show off for their friends or as a status symbol vs. loving to drive, loving the engineering, styling, feel, etc. I was also under the impression that he was 18 and could kind of do whatever he wanted without parental consent.
My granddaughter has a Justin Bieber t-shirt. I watched his disc with her last week while we were on vacation. Honestly, I can't understand a word of what he's singing. Hopefully he'll still be able to "flip" his hair after the accident, that seems to be of vital importance to Mr B and his faithful followers.
According to TMZ....Bieber does not own the Ferrari, and it was only a Fender bender with police not needing to take a record.
I LIKE blacked out wheels. (and I'm 58...LOL) Justin Bieber, OTOH....thank god the daughters are too old to inflict him on me. 15 years ago, woulda been 24-7. Like NKOTB. Arrrrgh.
That's a great post (and congrats!). I feel like I have and do work hard, but it's pretty clear I will never have 1/10th the financial resources of many on this board, much less Justin Bieber. But I have 100x more than a whole lot of people, and I cannot complain! I have two young girls, and I have to admit we laugh a bit about the Beebster. But let's face it, the kid is nothing like a Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian that is handed everything on a silver platter. From wikipedia: Bieber was born on March 1, 1994, in London, Ontario,[14] and was raised in Stratford, Ontario.[15] Bieber's mother, Patricia Lynn "Pattie" Mallette, was 18 years old when she became pregnant with her son. Mallette, who worked a series of low-paying office jobs, raised Bieber as a single mother in low-income housing. Bieber has maintained contact with his father, Jeremy Jack Bieber, who married another woman and had two children.[16][17][18] Bieber's paternal great-grandfather was a German immigrant to Canada.[19] His mother's ancestry is French Canadian.[20] During his childhood, Bieber was interested in hockey, soccer, and chess; he often kept his musical aspirations to himself.[16] As he grew up, Bieber taught himself to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet.[15][21] In early 2007, when he was twelve, Bieber sang Ne-Yo's "So Sick" for a local singing competition in Stratford and placed second.[5][21] Mallette posted a video of the performance on YouTube for their family and friends to see. She continued to upload videos of Bieber singing covers of various R&B songs, and Bieber's popularity on the site grew.[10] Chris Hicks, Bieber's A&R at Island/Def Jam, explained the young artist's huge online following to HitQuarters by saying: "He was doing something different. He was an attractive white kid singing very soulful R&B hits. That set him apart immediately from anyone in his range because no one was covering or singing these kind of records. But equally important was that you believed in these songs - it was real. And you wanted to hear more."[22] I have heard other adults that have worked with him say that he is very mature for his age, very talented, and very driven. What's wrong with that? I think jealousy drives most anti-Bieber comments. And with his resources and considering the atmosphere he lives in, a 430 coupe is low-key and relatively inexpensive car. He could easily afford a Murci spider in orange... which is probably what I would have bought at that age. It would mess with the hair though...
http://www.tmz.com/2011/08/30/justin-bieber-ferrari-minor-collision-car-crash-los-angeles/ It was a Cali but not his, also the Honda was at fault. Sad to see getting I'm the correct story from TMZ.
I work in the tinting industry and I am somewhat familiar with (PPF) Paint Protection Film. From the looks of the photo above it very well could be a car that has been entirely covered with PPF to produce the matte look. Not a cheap option but I think it would be cool to have it done so you can temporarily enjoy the current "in" color, graphic or whatever suits yourself all the while protecting your original paint underneath and then reomoving the PPf a few years down the road to reaveal the near perfect original paint. Almost like getting a new car. As far as the Beiber goes, I am for letting him enjoy it, good for him. As a father I would keep a close eye on what he does with that car for sure. That being said I know I certainly feel lucky to be alive considering some of the stupid things I did when I was young in car.
