Damn! Good for you. I would not have expected that outcome. Its a C5 in Caddy clothing so you know its going to be a fun driver. Someone did get a rare car for sure.

 

I am not sure why everyone thinks its C5 based? It is C6 based.

 

Your wrong. They had the production units going prior to the release of the C6. And if you want to get technical the C6 was referred to as a C5.5. The chasis in the XLR is from the C5 platform.

 

I spoke with the person who designed the XLR. He says its C6 based and I do remember the publications at the time stating that the XLR was using the chassis of the then upcoming C6.

 

There is absolutely no way it has the C6 chassis. It was in production in 2003 which means it went through R&D prior to the C6 being penned to paper and was probably on the table in design as early as 2000. The C6 debut in 2005.

If you bother to read it even says C5 chasis.
