Just like every other stock exhaust owner, I’ve been getting a white chalky substance blowing all over my engine coming from the degradation of the exhaust insualtion. I was scanning eBay and came across the OBX system for the 360.. the vendor just recently changed the price to $450. I figured, what the heck, I will try it. It appears to be a loose copy of the gruppe M exhaust. Anyone on here tried this exhaust out? I am assuming it will have similar sound characteristics as the gruppe M since it starts with an x pipe and goes into 2 separate mufflers. There may be some fitment issues that may need to be rectified, but I have a really good custom exhaust builder that is close to me that could dissect and massage the fitment.
This isn’t the first time I’ve used Chinese parts on high end cars. I used to have an air cooled Porsche 911 that I converted to a custom turbo set up. The 930 intercoolers are $4-8k,so found a CX racing intercooler that was originally built for a Mitsubishi EVO and adapted it to fit my needs. The intercooler was under $300, which saved a ton of cash for other things. No sense in spending $4-8k when you can spend $300 and get the same end result. I sold that car a few years ago, and a very wealthy collector bought it and still drives it to this day.
My car is a high mileage example that will be driven as much as possible as long as the weather is nice. It’s a nice car, but not going to be a garage queen by any stretch of the imagination. As long as the exhaust doesn’t have any crazy drone, it will be better than having to clean the engine bay every time I bring the car home from a drive.
for those wondering, here is the listing for the exhaust

Tempting for the price but looks like it will be very loud all the time. Interested in seeing how it goes. I'm in the market too and am finding a lot of online vids to be out of date as some of the manufacturer's have since changed mufflers.

Had a chance to install it yet? I think I'm about to pull the trigger on a Kline but saving $4k would be nice.

It’s supposed to get here Monday. I should have it installed as long as I don’t have any fitment issues on thanksgiving. I will update once I get it on and will share pics and videos

Looks like a lot of welds of off the shelf pre-bent pipe instead of custom smooth bends as the more expensive exhausts do. I guess that is why the cost is lower since this could really be put together in someone's garage with a home built jig and a welder. Can't wait to hear a comparison against some of the other exhausts out there.

The pipes that connect to the cat pipes are facing the wrong way.

Interesting. Appear to be welded in the ebay ad photos and no hardware shown for a connection there.

One thought that comes to mind when a bargain basement Chinese part is used instead of a standard brand...

This might be the greatest exhaust system since sliced bread but the stigma of a cheap Chinese part brings with it the thoughts by potential buyers that the owner cheaped out on everything. It's a glaring example that is impossible to cover up. While the OP may not care about the value of the car, they will when they go to sell it. I can see the comments on BAT. They won't be kind.

So save your original exhaust and when you go to sell the car, reinstall the original regardless of the white powder issue. You can leave the cheapo exhaust system in a box with the other spare parts.

    Just my 2 cents.

The tip section unbolts what appears to be so they probably flip to the other side

Got the exhaust on. I was expecting the fitment to be off, but it was actually pretty good! I still need to adjust the exhaust tips a little, but it looks really nice! The sound is really good too. As soon as I can figure out how to download a video, I will post it up.

I get it. I plan to keep the factory exhaust, and if I ever plan to sell the car, I will make the option to a potential buyer to reinstall the factory exhaust. I meticulously maintain all of my vehicles myself, so I guarantee the car isn’t ever in disrepair.
One of the nice things about my car is its higher mileage and I don’t have to worry about taking huge depreciation on the car if I drive it a bunch. When I bought the car a month ago, it had just over 59k miles. It now has almost 61k miles on it. I don’t feel guilty at all for racking up 2k miles in such a short time. That’s what most people put on their cars in a year. I’m getting more smiles per mile than anyone else. Obviously, winter is knocking on the door, so I will be driving my truck more often then.

Would you have a video in acceleration?
I would like to purchase it, but I'm undecided about the sound.
From what you can see from the photos it seems well built, can you confirm this for me?

I would not hesitate to install such an exhaust ... But isn't the chalky white substance from the cats insulation degradation ? My muffler/pipes have no such thing, or is it on 360 only .

Nope, it’s from the insulation between the muffler and the stainless steel shrouding of the factory exhaust.
