Dale JR. announced he's retiring at the end of 2017 season which is no surprise after the injuries he sustained last year!

Well, that and the season he's been having thus far.

    Good for him.

He'll end up on TV as a commentator no doubt.

    Ha!

But, he'll be in the booth so the little old ladies can keep seeing him.

The older guys are starting to fade away.
Concussions are not good, my daughter still has to deal with hers 3 years later.
She is still in PT for it.

Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and now Dale Jr. That's 4 of the biggest stars for the sport gone in 3 years.

all NASCAR has left for star power is Kyle and Kurt, and those aren't exactly "brand ambassador" types...

  10. Understood. There are many auto racing fans that are not into "Inside Edition", "Deco Drive", "Wendy Williams", "Maury Povich", "Ellen Degenerate", "Days of Our Lives", "The Bold and them Beautiful" et al.

We're into the sport of auto racing, not the celebrite of auto racing.... ;)

The youngsters are having a good year so far, Clint is hangin in there with a new team/car/motor, thinking the #14 will work his way to the front this year.
Can Jimmy hit 8 this year ..... and then walk ?
Kyle and Kurt, gotta have some bad boys somewhere in the race ;)

sadly, the casual fans...the ones that attract TV packages and corporate sponsors...ARE interested in the personality side of things. so NASCAR is in a pickle when its big stars are boring, or d-bags.

If he's not 100% committed, he should quit immediately.

  15. Hmmmm... Maybe NASCAR can git Danica and some of the wives to get up on some poles 'twixt stages. That'll draw 'em (some male drivers, too, for the ladies).....'can't wait.

Mayhaps there's these obligatory things called "contracts" that need fulfilling....

He seems like a decent humble guy who was thrust into the spotlight way to soon with the death of his father.

  20. A Bill Elliott he's not....'never was..... ;) (We won't even discuss Alan (Kulwicki)... :()

While not a huge fan, I've been to a few races the past couple years, one thing that is clearly evident is over 50% of fans in attendance wear Dale Jr clothing. With him gone, the attendance figures next year will take a huge drop and they've already been tanking the past 5 years or so.
