Why is that? Control by wire is not new... you dbw is that. More than likely this is no different and has redundant safety systems in place. Every F-16 pilot knows of Fly-by wire so why not cars?
I’m a pilot. 360* controls are important for aviation and fly by wire has made systems safer. On a car however, The small inputs on the joy stick driving on a two lane road with oncoming traffic, if you sleeve and your finger slips you would go into an oncoming lane. Inevitably small inputs will make large changes on a high performance car at speed. Two hands on a steering wheel during any spiritzed driving is critical for safety. I would putz around town with the joystick, but would never do any spirited driving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
unlike planes... The X and Y inputs can be scaled for the persons taste to include slow inputs around the dead band area and increase motion the further out from. I do that all the time around DBW depending on if i need control or quickness. in the planes, since the plane is not assigned to one individual, they can not exactly do that. I know in the military we didn't regardless of plane assignments and who was flying.
