I saw the Daytona and 355 made the top 10. I haven't watched the whole series yet, but I assume the F40 made the list.

    Any other F-cars in there?

(recognizing this was probably made before the 360 era...)

I enjoyed watching this video from TopGear. I miss that show and Jerimy Clarkson & Co. His choices were interesting, an English and European vs. American viewpoint. There were lots of great cars that were actually driven and the sounds of those engines, just great! I spent a nice hour watching it.

    Ciao...Paolo

I have the video, part 5 is interesting as i know the owner of the DeTomaso Pantera, and when Quentin Wilson crashed it, the BBC did indeed have to write a cheque for 50K. The owner is in the motor trade and repaired it for much less so made a handsome profit, even after fitting a bigger 500bhp motor. Needless to say, when loaning it to the BBC for a second time, he specified that Clarkson could not do any of the hard driving, he has crashed quite a few cars himself! look closely and you will see the driver is Phil Stebbings, another of the DeTomaso Club members.

He did rate it 92 spots ahead of the 360, which is amazing although as posted Clarkson hates the looks of the 360.

I think this was done before the F430, Porsche 997 or newest crop of Astons. I was amazed -- unless I missed it -- that the Porsche Boxster didn't make the top 100. Maybe Clarkson hates it.

I owned the Corrado V6 he puts at #67, and I've driven a Boxster S, and the fwd VW just could never handle the power.

The 355 shown at the beginning is the one Clarkson owned/owns (does anyone know if he still has it?). He got an SL55 and then an SLK55 and his Ford GT. IIRC his wife has a Lotus Elise and they have a Volvo XC90 for the nanny to drive. Not sure what else he has.

I had a look on Amazon and it seems this video was made in 2001. Clarkson hates all Porsches - recently he has said that it must be embarressing owning a Boxster as then you have to keep answering the question "so you couldn't afford a 911 then?" His words, not mine!

His shows are to entertain, not enlighten or educate. He is the Rush Limbaugh of car shows. His comments are to draw ratings, not make serious automotive judgements. The problems occur when people try to take the things he says too seriously.

I was just amazed he put the Porsche 996 TT at essentially the best car in the last 100 years (not including the "Go England" ubiquitous choice of the E-Type as #1). He definitely uses Porsche as his whipping post. On another show he called the 911 essentially jumped up VW bugs. (Note to above: That is a 996TT in the film, not a 997TT.)

That show had to be pre 04, or he would have put the 996 GT3 way up there, as he really liked that one. (Maybe he just used the 996tt to represent all modern 911s).

The rest of the world's automotive press falls all over itself praising the boxster / cayman. Clarkson not doing so just proves how light-weight his show is, IMO. He plays up being an opinionated codger...and people eat it up. He IS entertaining, you have to give him that.

And no, he doesn't call the Boxster the "Coxster". That is the Cayman.

He's not a fan of the F1 - some say because Gordon Murray once called him a wanker. :D

    (rather fittingly in my opinion)

Ok I realize I am resurrecting a really old post about a really old video. However I was looking for a typed out list of all the cars in Clarkson's top 100 video and you guys' forum was the only one that had one. It is however slightly incorrect. The BMW E39 M5 is actually at number 10, not the New mini. So I fixed the list :). Anyways if anyone else can find any other changes or corrections based on the video let me know. I only found this one because I happen to own an e39 m5.
