I find it hard to believe that anything from Mercedes would be the 'most' thrilling in that stratified company. But I haven't driven a CLK63 Black either.
I wonder how Jim/Napolis responds to Clarkson's review of the 8C....

I can imagine the Black Series CLK being one of those cars you just can't stop driving because it's too good...

So a car with a slushbox is "thrilling to drive"?

Having driven pretty much every AMG car produced for domestic consumption, you'd be surprised.

he's got one, so he *might* be biased. However, judging from his previous reviews of any other car i doubt thats the case.

I'm not sure what he means by thrilling, If he means 'easiest to drive over the limit, hold slides' he will probably have a point. I seriously doubt anyone with a zonda would push the car over the limit to see if its thrilling...

Have you also driven pretty much every Pagani model produced? I bet you'd be even more surprised. :)

It's just another example of Clarkson showing he understands nothing about cars. He's a funny showman, but I don't hold his opinion on cars in any sort of consideration.

Just because his favorite car is something else than what would be your favorite car, doesn't mean that he fails...

I agree, I've been pretty lucky over the years to drive a lot of great cars, but only the heavy hitters on this board can match the quantity of great cars he has driven. Its a very, very small population that has driven what he has. His opinion holds weight because he's driven everything and when something about a car stands out from the rest, it means something in my book. Not to mention the Stig, a guy that on some accounts is an ex F1 or world rally driver, says on two different occasions in both this "Thiller" DVD and on Top Gear that the Black Series is one of the most entertaining car he's driven in years, that too holds a lot of weight. While Benz in general has gone away in recent times from the old slogan "engineered like no other car in the world" a lot of those engineers are still there and can still make classics when given the chance.

Also some say that his breath smells of magnesium, and that he's confused by stairs. Others say his nipple is the shape of the nurburgring... all we know is, he's called the Stig.

Lets all look at the bright side. Being it's an AMG we'll be able to buy it for 30K in 2 years.

Clarkson is getting old and out of touch with what makes a sports car and an exotic. Not to mention that he is more fickle than a 15 year old school girl.

No, he's not looking for the sportiest or most exotic in that DVD, he's looking for the most thrilling.
