Great, thanks for spoiling that, I have been trying to get a day spare the last 11 months and 22 days to see the last race. I log on here to have a casual read of everything to do with F1 but not anything to do with the results of F1, who won any races, the WDC or the WCC standings and I find someone has mentioned the final race results.

Don't want to name any names but I think it would be appropriate if the results weren't discussed for at least 12 months , actually 5 years would be better. When I log on to FChat and click on the F1 forum, I never expect to read anything about who's winning and nor should I. Someone said just don't click on Fchat until you've seen the race for yourself, right, like a simple solution like that's going to work.

I'm asking all the newspapers to do the same, but none of the 762 I've written to have replied yet. You're walking through the airline terminal and this info is staring you in the face at newsstands, it's just not acceptable.

To the OP; I'm gonna have to assume you don't understand the difference between a thread title and a thread?

We have some pretty good "real time" threads on here - Spoilers up the wazoo - *No* problem.

I think the "Congratulations to somebody" thread appeared within a few minutes of the flag.

Any current F1 news, stories, results, whatever is fair game. JUST DON'T PUT IT IN THE TITLE".

    Thankyou

If you're referring to the "Somebody wins the WDC" thread, I deliberately started that before the race to collect all the congratulatory notes in one anonymous place.

    <geek mode on>
I had my congratulations to Vettel tiped during his last lap and hit submit as he entered the s/f line. My time stamp is probably fairly close to the moment he became the next WDC.

    <geek mode off>

Good job! [My bad on paraphrasing the thread title of course ;)]

Thanks for the post - It did seem to eliminate any "Jenson Button wins title" threads :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

The conversation in my house after the race... my room mate is terrible with names...

    Roommate: Is the race over?

AO: Yeah, and a bit of a shocker too.

    RM: Who won?

    AO: Teeth.

    RM: Not Stubble?

AO: Nope. He got 8th. He was behind That Arrogant Spaniard, Schnoz and Vodka.

    RM: And The Good Guys?

AO: 2nd and 3rd, Lewis beat Elroy.

RM: And now there's no more F1 until next year?

AO: Yup, all done for this year.

RM: Good, now you can clean the garage.

AO: Ok, I will right after the V8 Supercars race is over...

    RM: Oh Christ.

I'm actually embarrassed by the OP of this thread.

If he is a real New Zealand he can take criticisim directly, so I say fnck off to aventino ... but a very amusing post though.

If you come here before the result is known ... good luck mate.
    Pete
ps: And yes Kraftwerk, I am absolutely gutted. Not just because he lost but because he lost in such a non-competitive way :(.

Fair enough. I know we've had our disagreements over him & his abilities (mostly remaining gentlemanly I think?).

But, I do feel for you - He was your man, and it would be one thing to go down fighting, something he's known to do (!) but it was more a "whimper" in the end it seemed.....

Maybe that track really is *that* bad? - I often defend the "no overtaking" nature of F1, but without the drama of the title overshadowing it, that race was pretty poor.

    Cheers,
    Ian
EDIT - PS, was the op banned for this thread title? How long?

    The titles been sanitized! :D

See how easy it would have been to avoid a ban? ;)

Yes agreed, Pete is ok a good guy, I have butted heads a few times with him, but always resolved it one way or the other.

To me Webber had just about burned himself out getting into the position he was, I mean the whole of the season, he did seem to have all the odds stacked against him, and he has my respect for fighting for and getting where he did.

I think he won most folk over in that respect.

Webber like Alonso both appeared to wimper, now don't get me wrong I'm talking about F1 drivers at the top of there game here, I admire all of them for keeping these beasts on the track, never mind racing them.

Now for the fireworks: however I reckon Hamilton in there positions would have gone for it hero or zero style.. Maybe we needed to see that.

Footnote: I don't mean from the start, but when it appeared all was lost, but not quite to late to have a last ditch attempt, I'm afraid waiting for Renault engines to blow up is not a option I admire.

    It's just my opinion...:)
