Anyone been on the tour, okay to wear jeans?
Their letter says business casual but I'm trying to minimize packing...was planning on bringing only jeans on trip to Italy,,,but if I have to "dress up" I guess I can suffer thru... :)
    Thanks

When I went on the tour last summer I thought I should at least wear a nice shirt and a jacket. So I did. It was hot. (It was July just before the break) I left my jacket in the car. I rolled up my sleeves. I was wearing jeans for the same reason (packing efficiency) and I noticed I was not alone. Many people wearing jeans, even t-shirts. I think you will be just fine. I also think you can wear sneakers but I would not advise any open shoes as you are going to a real working factory. You will love the tour- they do a fantastic job! If you can I suggest a lunch at Ristorante Montana. One other thing, they are really serious about the no pictures. We've become so accustomed to taking pictures, I found myself resisting the urge to take out my phone on several occasions!

Jeans are fine. no issues with that... I think they like it that you are "smartly" dressed in the Italian sense... so if jeans do that - more power to you.

the factory is fairly humid and warmish... so I would not wear a jacket.... if you are there in the summer - the whole area is humid...

I believe there is a requirement for no open toe shoes.

My wife and I are going on factory tour at end of May. We will be staying at the Planet for two days then off to Lake Como for a week. Any other advice for Maranello?

LoL, I just got my first pair of dungarees for Xmas, I always wore khakis and dress slacks.

I think clean, no holes or tears "dungarees" are fine. I would wear them with Italian loafers, a sport coat and perhaps a button down collar Oxford shirt.

This from a reformed and enlightened geezer.

I would think jeans would be fine.

But, if you want to fit in with what the Ferrari employees typically wear (when they are not in suit and ties), they typically wear black casual slacks with a red Ferrari shirt.

You'll notice they never seem to wear jeans, even in casual settings.

    For example:

Agree. "Business casual" does not include even so called "dress" jeans. I think the Italians tolerate jeans because they have to accommodate so many Americans.

All in the groups on my past tours wore sport coats, dress shirts, dress jeans or slacks and nice dress shoes or loafers. It is like going to a place of worship for Tifosi.. Forza Ferrari. :D

In July 2014, I wore casual slacks and tucked my shirt in, and the other 6 in the tour were dressed casually. I don't think jeans would be a problem.

Really enjoyed it :) except no photos allowed inside :-(

We stayed at the Maranello Village outside town, but I had a car. Unfortunately, it wasn't the one in the photo.

Yes. Stay away from the Planet.
Stay at Hotel Maranello Palace, exactly on the other side of the factory (where the modern, new entrance is). Or the Maranello Village, which is a few kilometers away but super easy to reach with a rental car.

Visit Luca Fornetti's Shopping Formula 1 shop on the right side of Ristorante Cavallino, a bit behind the bus station, right across old factory entrance (brickyard building). And the factory museum, of course, you can walk there.

Use search function, top left, to find out more, there are plenty of threads about a trip to Maranello and what to do.

We stayed in the Hotel Domus. A group of us are going again this year in September for the 70th celebrations. This year we are at the Maranello Palace and have previously stayed at the Maranello Village which is a short drive from the factory.

I eat one of the best steaks I've ever had here - Restaurant and cafe - Drake.

    It's a factory. It's not a church.

I guess you haven't been to a "modern, progressive" church lately.

Folks show up in everything short of shorts and flip-flops, but I am sure I will see that soon.

It took me a long time to stop wearing a tie with my jacket, and I still do occasionally.

Regarding photos at the factory: They put stickers over both front and back camera lenses on your phone before the tour starts. Get caught trying to "sneak" a pic and I am sure you would be escorted out immediately, if not sooner, lol!

The entire tour is quite special. I think some respect is due in the attire department.

I stayed at Maranello village and the Planet hotel. Planet hotel is across the street from the factory, Maranello village you need to drive or bike. Planet hotel might not be the best hotel, but was only eu 100 last Sept.

    That's rather blasphemous, isn't it?
