Prob been posted before. I know it really was like this, is it still? Saw Jay and Donald Osborne at the Audrain Concours a few weeks ago, really interesting and highly entertaining to hear them talk about cars.

Yes, it has been beat to death. A Ferrari salesperson once dissed him, welcome to the club. :D

But the pics look great! Thanks.

I think this is an uncharitable rephrasing of what he says in that video. All I heard was that he didn't want a Ferrari enough to play the games. That's a completely reasonable position to take. He doesn't sound aggrieved at all to me and seems happy simply not owning any Ferraris. It's not like his garage and collection suffers much from the omission.

It seems to me he got so used to feeling jilted over not getting his ass kissed by the dealer/salesman that it became comforting to him to carry this animosity for decades and now he’s gotta keep it going. I can’t say it’s wrong though as I can hold a grudge with the best of ‘em and often times I feel like my own relationship with Ferrari is a lot like dating an ungrateful and abusive coked out stripper that’s just too wild and hot to let go of.

Leno’s car guy persona is great, everyone’s lovable car guy uncle. Leno’s generosity with his time is the stuff of legend, and his knowledge is legion.

That doesn’t change the fact that Leno has a long memory and it’s evident (by the reality he chooses not to own any Ferrari.)

Let’s just say holding long standing grudges on perceived wrongs can go both ways.

Burying any hatchet is something both parties have to agree on, the fact Leno released this video relatively recently shows he’s still not ready, so why should anybody else?

Is it really so important to peoples egos that if you like Ferrari that a well known wealthy car guy has to like them too? If not that makes you some lesser human being? The mental health industry can help you with that.

Otherwise grow a pair and get over it. The world is full of car people who have no interest in Ferrari. They are not losing sleep over it.

Can we get over this obsession already?

Any private company that sells a specific product that is below market value has to decide who gets this benefit.

The way I go about this conundrum is ask which customers can scratch my back as well as I scratch their itch?

It’s literally the ethos since the first caveman asked themself; who should they trade their coconut to?

Leno wanted to skip the line, and when the other party said no, he got mad. To this day, still bad mouths the companies’ modus operandi.

As I said, grudges can go both ways. The real question, is which party acted in bad faith?

Ask Conan or Letterman, heck Carson; and you’ll get your answer.

i think Leno is waiting on Ferrari to come to him.

Egos can be fragile things. Yup, you get it, we don't need to make this more complicated then what it is.

Leno wanted to buy a specific Ferrari, and Ferrari said no.

Leno never got over that, and thinks the proper response is to make fun of Mondials.

How original. (dare I say out of touch?)

Kimmel, Hall, Miller, Oswalt, Stern, Hall, Rivers, Hicks, Richeter, etc wouldn't be surprised, it's not the first time Leno's been accused of 'stealing' other things besides jokes.

Yet, the order books continue to be full. It's true that he probably wanted a rare model out of the gate and was told no, for whatever reason. Maybe they were all allocated, who knows. If Jay was upset about that, that is solely his problem.

Like anyone else on here, if he had a bad relationship with one dealer, he could have tried another one. If he had a bad relationship with numerous dealers, maybe it was worth looking into the mirror. In any case, he seems to be doing just fine with his own collection (which is quite cool I might add), and Ferrari is also doing okay without him.

He could give a rats ass.

Do we really think he cries himself to sleep because he didn't get a car he thought he might want?
Don't you think one of the 50 or so Ferrari owning friends he has on speed dial one of them would not have sold him a 288 or an Enzo or a 275?

Please. He moved on a very long time ago. Its only the fragile egos around here that have not.

I doubt it. I don't think Jay buys new cars anyway. Most of his collector cars he bought when they were still inexpensive -- he comments about that often on the few Jay Leno's Garage I've seen.

I think this it. Leno has nothing to prove — legendary car enthusiast who buys what he enjoys.

then why is he “refusing to play the Ferrari game” if he buys used cars?

Jay doesn’t know as much as he thinks he does. Whenever there is a Ferrari on his show, he seems to know very little bit about it. He talks about McLaren like it’s a better car just because they kissed his butt. In my opinion McLarens are disposable cars and not in the same league as Ferrari.

is it really that hard to buy one used car and then order a new car? Is it really that hard to drive a few new cars, at minimal cost to you in order to be allocated a very limited car later? Like others have said he wanted to skip the line or he wanted something extremely limited that only goes to people with a purchasing history.

Jay Leno could get any Ferrari products he wants, at anytime. If Justin Beiber is on the list Jay Leno would be well above him. Jay, simply won't play the game. It's that simple. He will not by a ****box, just to get on the list. He is smart and knows his worth
