Personally, I think that was simply a joke, but willing to be proven wrong if you show us the actual eBay listing... 😉

Witty and charming those Brits are. Why didn't they bring that stuff over on the Mayflower?

May calls JC a nob (knob)? What is it exactly?

    Googled. Means penis.

I guess swapping UK for US colloquial it kind of means 'eejit'. It's affectionate man-teasing. Of a type. Any other UK citizens wish to contribute?

Not this. Nob equals Tool. An ideal metric for Clarkson.

I'd side with Themaven and say that "knob" is more affectionate, you'd describe a mate that way.

I'd say the UK equivalent of "tool" is "bellend", not quite so friendly.

Yes, JM lets it be known that actually he thinks JC is a bloody bellend. But..... They make MILLIONS together & when on air they all get along.
I've been to the filming on several occasions & it's very night & day watching them film & then watching them off Camera.

They're quite good friends of the air. Of the 3, James and Jeremy get along quite well ''áfter work''. They share quite a lot of interests.

Calling someone a "knob" in the UK is basically calling them ****** (as in: penis).

It can be said in a light-hearted manner, as James May used it in reference to Jeremy Clarkson, or it can be used in an aggressive, derogatory manner to someone who has seriously annoyed you.

The lighthearted version is the equivalent of jokingly calling someone an idiot, whereas the aggressive version is a serious insult, one level down from calling them a c:censored:t!

This is it if the English sense of humor is anything like the Aussie. In fact, the "c" word, which is used towards guys, can be both affectionate or derogatory. Come to think of it, any word can go both ways; it's all in the delivery and your relationship.

I think it's fair to say that if I walked upto a total stranger in the UK and called him/her a knob, I may well regret it :D
