    Gentleman -

Just curious your thoughts on the brands IWC and Omega?

Looking at three watches to add to my very humble collection ....

    1) IWC Portuguese Yacht Club (IWC 390502) ~ $11,000

    2) IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph ( IWC 377709) ~ $5000

    3) Omega Seamaster Diver 300M ( James Bond Watch w/ blue face) ~ $3000

    Any opinions on these three?

the IWC watches are probably finer than the Omega, but performance I think they are comparable. You are looking at 3 VERY different watches, so it depends on what your goals are.

The Omega you can treat like a hammer. The IWC's, not so much.

Don't pay more than $9500 for the IWC 390502.
Very different watches so depends on which one you will get the max use out of. Are you looking for something to wear all day or something a bit more special?

Honestly I think I'll eventually buy all 3. They're my favorites right now.

Omega for certain. But if your going Omega--the PO series is far better looking than the new Seamasters.

Omega. I beat the hell out of my Speedmaster for over twenty years . I have been beating up my Planet Ocean for six years and runs great and still looks good.

    I love my Omega.

Take a look at Jaeger LeCoultre also. Listen to the whir of the automatic winding mechanism, and check out the craftsmanship of the movement.

I happen to like IWC watches as I have quite a few of them.
So you know where my preference lies.

can anyone give me thoughts on the 2000 vintage of the iwc dopple chrono? I have always admired this watch. does it compare favorably to the current dopple?

I would go with IWC over Omega and Rolex any day. Here in Orange County, Everyone has Omega and Rolex, and 90% are fakes LOL

The 3713 is fantastic. I have a 3706 which I sold, regretted, then bought back. The early hands and dial are (to me) classic and show more of it's rugged military origins. You need to try one on, because the 7750 base movement is rather thick and not for everyone. The 3713 is a bit larger than the 3706 so wears a bit more modern and the thickness is more balanced. Watch for tritium lume aging and turning yellow if that bothers you. They're a great deal for a quality watch. And, the extra button is fun to play with.
