Hi all. Just swapped my 458 Spider for a more family friendly Portofino which I get next week. Can anyone recommend a isofix child seat which will fit in the rear. For a 3 year old and front facing.

I know there’s not much room but as there is isofix and front passenger seat reasonably forward I am hoping he will be safe and comfortable.

Warning, the Mercedes seat looks like a rebranded Britax Duo Plus. That seat is not approved for Isofix only (without top tether, which we don't have) for Ferrari.

I tried a lot of options and the only seat that worked on my Cali was Diono Radian 3 (despite the information in an older thread on child seats). Another warning, you can't open or close the top with the seat in place as it will get in the way.

Thank you. Looks like some trial and error is needed at a car seat shop.

Hi all. I have 2 kids, 3 and 5 and a 2010 Cali. I found a great car seat solution (forward facing). Actually, I have 2 solutions (2nd one is way better!)

    1) If your child is under 3 yrs old and under 30lbs, but forward facing, I found that the slim high back Cosco Highback Harness (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cosco-Finale-2-in-1-Harness-Highback-Booster-Car-Seat-Flight/165658656) front facing booster seat works very well. However, I removed the rear cushions, and used the seatbeat to secure the seat in. Warning: because it is a little taller of a seat, it comes very close to the interior flap trims of the convertible top, so when opening and closing, you have to look back to make sure those flaps don't get caught on the seat - I learned the hard way and cost $1800 custom repair from Ferrari.

However, here is a bit of the problem. when my kids are shorter, and their thighs are not as long. so the knee bends before the edge of the car seat, forcing their legs to be somewhat extended, instead of bent downward (see picture of 1 son that's kind of blurry). Also, because the front seat is inclined, the higher up the kid is, due to the booster seat, the more less space their is because of the "slope" of the front seat. If only the kids could sit lower, that angle of the slope would provide more room for the legs.....

    2) ...enter Ride Safer Vests (https://ridesafertravelvest.com/)!! When you first look at you will initially doubt that it is safe. It is test and safe. You are actually using the seatbelt to secure your child, and not the isofix (or seatbelt) to secure the car seat, which has the harness to secure the child.
Normal booster seats raise the child up to the level of the seatbelt. This Ride Safer Vest lowers the seatbelt to the level of the child, so the Vest is not hold the child in place, the seat belt is. As with everything, do your research to come to your own conclusion.
I put my seat cushions back in, and have my 2 kids in the back. Knees bend at the cushion , and they are now lower, giving more space. This allows them to have more flexibility and they love to sit "criss cross apple sauce" on the cushion, there is 0 legs in the back seat.
they say they have to be 3yrs old and 30lbs. I think the3 yrs old is more a maturity thing, making sure your child doesn't try to unbuckle himself or whatever. so if you have confidence in your child younger than 3 yrs old (but +30lbs), it would probably work. If you have a very squirmy 3+ yr old that might unbuckle himself, then maybe not the best thing.
I think it is patented, so there aren't any other competitors out there.

Let me tell you, I use this to travel and uber around. So incredibly convenient! The kids love their "Race Harness", as we call it.

Hi - does anyone know how to access the ISOFIX anchors? They appear covered by the panel with the two seatbelt signs and I can’t seem to take that panel off. This is for a Portofino.

I am using the max-cosi rodifix. It fits perfectly and the top moves just fine.

Thanks. Mine seem stuck - I have tried to pull with a good amount of force. I will check with the dealer.

Thanks all. I was able to get the panel off. The dealer (Sterling, VA; salesperson J.P. is the best) sent me a video showing me how. It requires some force. First pull the side close to the center console. The pull the other side off. I am using a Wayb Pico seat. It works well in the Portofino.

If the seats are similar then I have a britax duo plus in my Cali 30. It fits with the original seat cushion in place and i found it to be super sturdy once fitted

We also struggled. We ended up taking the seat bottom off first (it’s secured with really strong Velcro) and then popped off the cover. You do feel like you’re going to break it. We then installed the maxi cosi rodifix directly without putting the seat bottom back on.
Our son is 4 and 40lbs but we would have preferred he be in a harnessed car seat rather than a high back booster. Unfortunately, forward facing car seats in the US require the use of the top tether, which the Portofino doesn’t have. It is supposed to be required in all cars, so I’m not sure how they get away with that.

I didn’t buy the Pico because their site says the top tether is required. Did you read somewhere that it wasn’t? I’m not sure if I’m better off with the high back booster or a harnessed car seat that’s not installed as recommended because it doesn’t have a top tether. I know top tethers aren’t required in Europe so how important are they really? Was that your thinking? Btw, we’re also in the DC area - maybe we will see each other without our kids in the backseat.

I have two kids. 2 and 4. I went with Cosco Scenera Next on one car seat and ride safer vest on the next. It’s only $60 for this and was the most compact I found that will work with top up.
