This has to be the sharpest SUV on the road. If I ever got one, it would be one that had a few miles on it - maybe a 3-4 year old one.

But Consumer Reports basically says these things suck?

Does anyone on here have one? If they suck, is it AFTER the warranty runs out?

i do not have much personal experienxe, but a friend of mine has one. iirc his rear suspension is messing up and looses air every once in awhile. The weekend he was prposing to his gf, they went to tennesse to be romantic and the water pump took a dump on him. in the auto industry, they are commonly referred to as "british chevrolets" because they always seem to have somehting leaking, and dont run right unless they do. if you got the pockets for the maintainance, rock it!!!

oh yeah one day i had to get a quart of power steering fluid for one i was looking at and the single quart was $20.

from what i have seen, they pretty much suck all around, before and after warranty.......

Which years are you talking about. Pre-BMW or Post-BMW. BIG difference.

The post BMW (now Ford) Land Rovers are outstanding.

I would look at other sources.

Here in UK, magazine surveys have shown a lot of dissatisfaction among Land-Rover owners (less than 2 years old). One of the complains is the exhorbitant cost of servicing by authorised dealers during the warranty - compulsary if you want to keep the warranty.

Myself, I find Land-Rover well over-priced compared to the competition.
Still, the Range-Rover HSE is the Rolls-Royce of 4WD.

Wow. After reading the above website, all I can say is "Wow. How could anyone in their right mind buy one of these vehicles?"

Sure, there are drivers out there (some on F-chat) that have experienced no problems with their Land Rovers. But the plethora of problems listed on this website is absolutely astonishing.

What struck me is the fact that VERY FEW warranty companies will insure a Land Rover. In fact, there are only 2. Yes, only 2!!! I could understand this for a Ferrari, but a car such as this that is produced in mass? What does that tell you about their reliability?

Now...take that Range Rover "look" and put Toyota running gear and electronics in it, and you've got yourself a winner.

Otherwise, I'll let someone else fool with these things.

Drive behind any dealership and look for the current problem of the month, a stack of leaking gas tanks...

Thats why I didn't buy one, that website. My friend bought a 2006 and the first week it was in the shop this summer and still doesn't have it back. It's a lemon, those cars are either a hit or miss..

My business has two Range Rover Sports. I have 19,000 miles in 10 months and my business partner has 16,000 in 10 months. ZERO, I repeat, ZERO issues with both. That link is talking about the full size Rover which i still hear lots of bad stories about. I can only talk about the Sport... I drive my car, very, very hard. Hard Accelerating/braking, on ramps/off ramps everday. I don't baby my truck. The JD Powers issues in the US survey are related to the multiple software updates but mine have been done during oil changes so i haven't notice. Only real problem is the depreciation but with the SUV tax deduction it covers that. A few other guys on the board have RRS as well so I'm sure they will chime in.

My review-great looking, small backseats, service included, drives like a sporty truck unlike the Porsche and X5 which drive like an oversized sporty car.

My brother has had a Range Rover Sport Supercharged since they came out and no problems at all. It's for his wife, he says his new S550 is phenominal.

I had an 04 Range Rover HSE for about 16k miles. As with most cars, I had a couple of issues that were resolved and didn't occur again.
I traded it in on an 05 Range Rover HSE and have had O2 sensor problems twice. They blamed it on bad gas or blended gas. The left rear window quit working and it was repaired quickly. The only other issue is an annoying pull to the right. I had it aligned and rechecked several times and the pull is still there. I think it's probably just the tires. Between the two I have about 38k miles and almost three years and I have to say that of all the cars I have ever had, it continues to be one of my favorites. Great ride, nice interior, great stereo and I like the styling. I would love to get the supercharged version but I can't see dropping 95k for an suv. My biggest complaint is the service department.

I have a 2006 RR HSE and love it. It drives wonderful with plenty of room. A bit low on HP than my Cayenne. I have not had anything go wrong since getting it in May. I have had quite a few older Disco 1's and II's and they were crap yet still drove well.

Jim and I post on http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/

and you can review the latest about the Sport and the HSE. If you are 100% perfectionist (aka Porsche driver) than it may not be for you, but I am very happy with mine, and can't wait till the big V8 Diesel comes over here.

It is also a sharp / classy looking vehicle, esp if you do not add any bling to it.

Yeah, I have one of those already. I agree that it's nice, but that Range Rover is the sharpest on the road, hands down.

It really is a damn shame. British cars are so damn good looking inside and out. And when working properly, thier performance is great too. I love the new Jaguar Xk8 convertible and the new xkr coming out. I would buy one in a heart beat over a used ferrari or a new Carrera S if they were reliable.

Anyone know the reason or excuse Jag. and LR have for such poor quality. It's not like England has crappy universities that graduate idiot engineers. They know how to make a car fast, attractive and plush.

Why can Porsche make their cars so cool and reliable (never had problems with my Boxster or father's 911) and Jag/LR can't. It seems impossible for me to comprehend.

Ours is such a fantastic car. It's and 03, Alveston Red. The only "problem" thus far was having to replace the brake pads at 5k miles. Now, the second set is great... the car now has almost 40k (and don't forget, it does take a lot of power to pull a 6500lb car to a stop).
