Is Ferrari just a like gucci, prada, armani etc.. or is it more. A majority of the people iv met in the Ferrari world dont act much different than the stuck up people, acting as if there better than everyone. What makes Ferrari Different then all those other name brands. do you agree or disagree
Ferrari has history on the race tracks of the world. Many of the Italian fashion houses have generations of heritage, too.....French also. So to confuse the quality of the product with any social behavior is misplaced, IMO. Some newly rich have absolutely no culture and social training at all. The ones raised with wealth all their lives are often the most gracious and generous you'll ever meet. Quit hanging around with rappers and sports stars...........
Not having missed a single year of competition in the highest form of motorsports. That said, if your question is referring to accessories with the Ferrari logo on it like T-shirts, shoes, handbags, then yes, in that sense Ferrari is just another brand name. But that merchandising pays for a lot of F1 racing.
Also multiple wins Le Mans, Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, Daytona, F2, etc. Also competed at Indy, Can-Am, Temporada, etc. with private or semi-works teams.
Gucci and Prada products don't make sounds like this. Fast forward to 2:15 in this linked video. http://vodpod.com/watch/2014527-victory-by-design-ferrari-330-p3 Everyone who is lucky enough to drive one of these cars, shares in this dream of being the fastest on the track. And, all the people who wear the Cavallino logo on their shirts, hats, and coats are doing their part to "support the marque".
Vintage Ferraris are rare and special cars, and the people I've met who collect, drive and race them are seriously knowledgeable -- probably more than any other car enthusiasts I know (although Porsche comes close). They were orginally bespoke cars -- you had to be someone or know someone to get onto Enzo's list, from what I understand: you didn't just trot over to the dealer. So the brand is pretty significant. In the '80s and later, and especially now, the cars are more common, so there's more of a mix of enthusiasts, snobs and (misguided) investors and flippers. The irony to me is that best Ferraris you can buy today to really use are no more expensive than some of the Mercedes AMG or Porsche 911 models. If you haven't owned or driven some of their cars, it's hard to understand, but particularly with the older ones they are different in many ways from every other car. If you're a car enthusiast, hearing a carburetted Ferrari V12 is like losing your virginity. So, yes, I'd say it usually takes someone who knows their cars to own/buy a Ferrari, and as you go back to the era when Enzo was alive you did get into rarified company in terms of knowledge about sports cars, motorsports, etc. With the newer, somewhat of a mixed bag, but there are pure enthusiast reasons to own something like a Ferrari 458.
While I agree there are still people like that I would give the Ferrari community more time. There are plenty of people I have both met personally and over this forum that are very very generous people.
A pair of Gucci shoes is pretty much a nice pair of shoes. Just like a thousand other nice pairs of shoes. A Ferrari is not like any other car made. It is unique - has a mystique in the auto world that speaks to the passion of Enzo, of the race heritage, of quality and engineering. Gucci makes shoes. yawn. Jedi
Plus, technically, it isn't a "blog". I always thought it is a vbulletin chat forum. Although, it is a novel one!
im glad i could be part of your confidence boast, everyone needs there time to shine for some the internet is there only way
Thanks. I appreciate it. (BTW, I hate to bring up this really insignificant "grammar police" thing, but technically it is "you're funny", not "your funny". And I assume both you & I knew "im" is short hand for "I'm", so I won't even mention that one. You text a lot on your phone, don't you?)
You're not, well maybe, but what you are doing is proving a lot of us got something out of our educations. Unlike....
Its most definitely not another brand. Between the racing heritage and what it stands for its like nothing else in the world. Not even like Lamborghini. And I somewhat like Lambos. I think the marque stands above all else in the auto world. I would bet that anybody who is breathing knows what company the logo is tied to. Ferrari is king, no question. Some people are just snobs to begin with, the Ferrari is just one more thing they can be snobby with, and wrongly so. Its the person, not the car.
Rifledriver gave you good advice. Whether you think it's "stuck up" or not; good spelling, punctuation and grammar is appreciated here. A few mistakes here or there is no big deal, but consistent disregard for such niceties is irritating to other users. LIKE WRITING POSTS IN ALL CAPS; USERS END UP BEING DISTRACTED BY THE FORM RATHER THAN THE CONTENT.
Since you are in the mood for correcting.... Confidence boost....everyone needs their....their only way
To answer your original question the similarity with those other brands is they are all "status" brands. Their uses are however different. Gucci, Prada, Armani is high end fashion while F is more automotive related than anything fashion. In terms of name recognition they are all pretty similar with Ferrari probably having more brand awareness world wide, as a kid will know a Ferrari but few kids will know the other names. So, in terms of fashion the other brands are more but when it comes to automotive related, Ferrari outshines the others. Most of the time from a fashion standpoint if you are trying to impress with F apparel you will fail and look like a wannabe or dork not unless you are at some car related event. Make sense?
I might suggest that you reevaluate your tone and attitude quickly. Proper grammar is expected in this forum. Otherwise you come across as a 16 year old wannabe and moons will ever take you seriously. Rifledriver is a senior and very well respected member here. Much more than a month old newb. PDG
