After a short conversation with my wife last night, she said " honey, I can't believe you're not bored of your car already. You usually get tired of cars fairly quickly." My response,....In this case, NOT TRUE ! !
The Porsche's I have had in the past, well, after 6 months I grew bored.
The Mini, Very cool car, I got bored after a year and 4k miles.

I am just not getting bored of this car. I am actually growing fonder with every drive. This izz happiness.

Wanna share your story?.... Are you tired or bored with your F car?

I'm coming up on 5 years of ownership this May and I can definitely say that boredom is not, and never will be, an issue. Every time I slip behind that steering wheel and see the prancing horse there in front of me I realize just how lucky I am to be able to share in the heritage of this great marque. For the time that I'm enveloped in the sound of the engine, the smell of the cockpit, and the feel of the road, I'm Ascari, Hill, Villeneuve, Lauda, and Schumacher. I'm all the engineers, designers, and coachbuilders that ever drafted, penned, or hammered one of these great machines into existence.

They say that art should move people, well then, I've stood under the Sistine Chapel, and front of a van Gogh, and before a da Vinci, and driving (and looking) at my 328 is just as emotional and revealing. Sometimes the things we create, music, art, architecture, literature, transcend us, and that's how I feel about my Ferrari. Its just, well, right. They got it right. And, they got it right so many times in so many different forms...

If I wanted to get from point A to point B efficiently, quietly, comfortably, then I would take public transportation, but when I want a viceral experience, I have to look no further than my garage.

The problem, or non-problem, is that the Ferrari has made everything else seem boring and conformist.

Also I think it's something you aspire to. Even if the cars are more financially attainable as you get older, and you realize they are not perfect, it's probably a goal you had in mind for the important part of your life, the part beginning with driver's license acquisition.

(I already got a note from a previous owner of my car: "NEVER sell it!")

Over the past 20 years I have owned just about every modern day sports car you can name. Each time I bought a new one I would say "this is the car I am going to keep forever". Well as you might guess the longest that I ever kept any of those cars was a year. Now I am at the point having had so many toys that I have to start over and revisit cars that I have owned before. For me, I think the main reason that I got bored was that I smothered the cars too much. I would try and drive them every day, which is fine if I had owned all the cars at once but after a short while the special car became "too familiar" to me.
This time around I waited 8 months before getting another car and I chose to get another 348. I am going to try and limit it to short drives maybe twice a week to retain that special feeling that should be there every time you get behind the wheel of one these beautiful cars.
With the emphasis on the word "try"...lol...

Bored ? NEVER !- every ride for me is a mini vacation. It's such an all consuming experience that I find it clears my mind and gives me a special "high" that only comes from driving a Ferrari.

I was considering a snarky reply to such an obvious softball of a question, but then I started thinking about why my Ferrari is so much more than just a car to me.

One reason is that owning a Ferrari has completely changed my perspective on cars. I just got a 1976 M-B 450SL for my wife and I can see how the rules have changed: No more car wash, and no more Jiffy Lube. Full polish and wax, because the car could use it. New wheels and tires, because the ones on the car aren't good enough. New (or rebuilt) shocks, just because. I have always loved cars, but I have never had this level of involvement before, even when I had my Jag (OK, the mechanic mostly had my Jag; I just paid the bills).

As far as my Ferrari itself is concerned, every single drive - even to the store or the gas station - is therapy. Somebody (Sheehan?) keeps tossing around the phrase, "The best thing I ever did for me." After my wife and kids it's all true and it's all good. Anybody who is bored with their Ferrari needs to check for a pulse.

After 4 years of ownership, I wouldn't call it boredom. Granted I don't take my car out at the drop of a hat like when I first got it. I don't buy the Ferrari swag like I used to.... I've simply moderated my passion.

There's more to life than just the red car.

Bored, you have got to be kidding. My 308 may not be the fastest or best handling car on the road but it gives me a thrill every time I climb in. Other cars are just cars, while the Ferrari just speaks volumes.

    I want to get a 355 or a 360 or a BB or a 550.
It would be stupid for me to do it now though.

When I bought mine..I said I would never sell the car. 4 years after, it was gone. Yes I got board of it. I loved the car but the power and old school handleing was starting the wear thin. After being out handled by a STOCK Honda accord with 4 people in it, I knew it was time for it to go, and look for something more current.

I really did enjoy the car, and I loved the sounds and its looks. But the lack of performance was really troublesome to me. I rebuilt the engine and did a couple of syncro's in the gearbox etc..that helpped..a little. So I put it up for sale. Made 15k profit on the car. might buy another and do the same thing.

I just bought myself a Ducati, and I'm still looking for an early Diablo to play with.

I’ve had her almost a year.
It’s not perfect. It’s not the fastest or the quickest, or the best looking either.
It smells like gas and oil, and the steering wheel jiggles and jerks in my hands as it goes over bumps, or slithers around corners.
The seats are comfortable, though not the most, although the leather still smells fresh. The radio sounds like a tin can, and the AC works, or at least the indicator light says it’s on.
It sucks gas like a tank, and it’s noisy as hell.
The tires wear out quickly, and the carbs need a little tinkering once in a while.
But am I tired of it? Bored?
    Never!
Am I going to trade for something else?
    Never in this lifetime!
And every time I drive her, the adventure begins anew even before I switch on the key!

Bored? No way. I love my car. After F1 Quali yesterday I went to the garage and told it the results!

Whether I drive my car that day or not, it makes me feel good just to see it there as I leave / come home.

    I love my car!!!

Thats hilarious. I can relate, we both always address the "girls" every time we go to the garage and yes, I talk to them too. Now if I had an f40 I would grovel and scrape as to the alpha pack mate!!!

And to the question, I am on my third fcar and they have all provided a visceral thrill that time does not diminish.

Yes I get/got bored with each one at some point. Bored with Ferraris (plural)..no never

Each new car was "this is the car I am going to keep forever".

And his quote here - "Now I am at the point having had so many toys that I have to start over and revisit cars that I have owned before." EXACTLY!!!

    Hence...Ive owned...2x 355, 3x 360, 4x 308 ect...

Its kinda like being a chocoholic and wanting to try every desert. Then once you've had them all you want to try your favorites again.

I've had the pleasure and honor of owning about 10 different Ferraris over the past 15 years. I've currently whittled it down to 4 (2 street cars, and 2 factory race cars). I can say that my desire to own and drive these cars has changed dramatically.

First, I so much prefer driving the race cars on the track that I have parked my street cars and don't touch them for months at a stretch. Driving on the street is too big a hassle where I live. The roads are rough and congested. The gawkers won't let you alone or give you any room. I cannot park them without planning it out in advance. The maintenance, insurance, registration and property tax are outrageous. For the most part, the pleasure I had driving them in my 20's has evaporated. However, when I crank one up, blip the throttle and hear the exhaust note, I confess that I always need to go for a therapeutic drive. More often than not, I have a smile on my face by the time I'm pulling back into the garage.

Second, the race cars are my truer passion. Unfortunately, due to their obscene operating costs, I'm careful not to spend every weekend at the track. Here, however, I can really enjoy the environment, the learning experience, the challenge of improving my skills, as well as the cars themselves. They were meant to be pushed hard. Listen to a 12-cylinder racing Ferrari at 8,000 rpm through straight pipes just feet from your ears and you'll know what I mean. Tooling along from redlight to redlight gives me absolutely, positively no pleasure.

Third, and probably most importantly, over the years, I have met some exceptional individuals. I have met some of my heros (drivers, constructors, and designers). I have met people that I will consider my friends for the remainder of my life. I have also met confidence men, golddiggers and a ridiculous number of annoying people. I have heard some of the greatest racing stories told first hand. I have even accumulated a few good stories of my own. I had some of the greatest moments of my life in my race cars. I have "seen God, then braked." I have learned some of who I am and what I'm made of in my race cars. I have gone places and done things I used to dream of. Much of this access was provided because I got involved, as opposed to became a Ferrari gearhead, but while all of this would have been possible, probably, in other marques, I don't think it would have been the same in something else.

The Ferrari "experience" is thrilling and absurd at the same time. I love it but hate it sometimes, too. Yes, I have gotten bored with some of the cars I've owned, and it's about time to upgrade one of the race cars. I've sold cars I loved, at first, but then found that I did need even more speed or luxury. There's always something newer, sexier, cooler, faster, plusher, or whateverer, too, thanks to the marketing folks and technical progress. However, I'm becoming less and less enthusiastic about Ferrari's designs, which are disappointing to me. While I'm impressed by their technical progress, if I'm not exactly bored with their newest designs, I am sadly uninspired.

I have lost some of my giddy excitement of ownership. I rarely wake up to watch an F1 race these days. Or any race, for that matter. I'd rather be at the track doing, learning and improving than watching someone else do it better on TV. I'll probably always own a couple of Ferraris, and I will always remember the excitement of my first. That's enough excitement for me.
