Just thought I give it try on my iPhone 6 Plus when connecting to the IPOD connector. I switch to Media Type on the menu and I don't see anything. When I play the music, nothing comes thru my speakers. Tried to find any information in the manual on my 458 Spider but nothing. What am I doing wrong?

We all asked about manual but apparently it doesn't exist.

Did the iPod connector ever worked with previous iOS devices? What adaptor did you use to connect iPhone 6+ to the old 30pins connector?

This is my first time testing out the iPod connector, not sure if it ever worked before. I'm the 2nd owner. I used the USB connector end to connect to the adapter wire in the car. The other end goes to my iPhone 6+. Is there another step to in the menu screen to activate it? It should just be plug and play right?

I don't believe the usb connector supports iOS devices. I used 30pin to lightening adaptor and it worked as expected.

The USB port is used to transfer media to the internal storage I think.

I tried the same last week with my Speciale and the only thing I could do is play music via Bluetooth audio to my stereo.
I tried with an Ipod classic using the USB ports.
Would a USB Stick with music work?
    Has any one tried that?

I have used both I pad and I pod with the USB port with no issues most of the time. The only issues I have had is that you cannot use the I pod controls when it is plugged in (a pain on a RHD drive car when you want to leave music selection to the passenger) and unplugging to use the I pod causes the I pod to lock up which means you have to wait for the battery to go flat before it will reset. I put that down to usual Apple rubbishy software as opposed to the cars fault. The other issue is that bluetooth audio occasionally took priority over the USB.

USB will not work to connect to your iphone.
The only way to get this correct and working perfectly is to have a 30pin to lighting adapter cable the you will be able not only to play music but see them on your left screen and charge your phone at the same time.

If I’m not mistaken, the IPod connects only to an iPod not a phone. I had the same issue with my 458 spider. I wound up purchasing an old school iPod and downloaded all of my music with no issues. Best , Kirk.

I tried using the 30 pin lighting cable to iPhone connector and no success. I see once I plug it in Ipod shows up but unable to move to highlight Ipod. Tried several times and nothing. I have an iPhone X and a 2010 458 Italia.

If no one doesn't have any other suggestions, I may try the Bovee and see if it works.

Go into Bluetooth settings on the phone. Turn it off and on and it will recognize the Bovee.

Mel , a more expensive solution is to buy a 488 because the phone has a flawless blue tooth connection.

Bought Bovee on Amazon with free overnight shipping.
Plug in Bovee to Ipod cable, go to setting on my phone, click on Bovee, enter code 0000 and done.
Works great and most of all, easy.
I bought the 30 pin Ipod cable to lighting Iphone connector and couldn't get it to work.

With genuine Apple 30pin to lightening adaptor, it worked flawlessly for me, including changing tracks and voice commands. The only thing that gets me is the 500ma power provided from head unit that isn’t sufficient to charge the phone while running gps nav. I ultimately switched to bovee and a faster wireless charging phone holder. Very happy this eay

I should add that my bovee drops the audio at times for fraction of second but recovered quickly , so it’s not perfect. But worth trading convenience and got rid of constant “phone call completed” audio with every navigation voice.

Im having the same issue on my 2011 458 Spider as well. No solution found but working with my dealer. I'll check back in. I purchased the Bovee unit as well. i can power it up and get connection to my iphone x but then i am not able to select the "ipod" function through the media screen. Im starting to think the 30 pin connector has gone bad.

Did you try the "old" IPOD ?

It normally works right away …..

If connected correctly, it shows a Prancing Horse on its little screen …

Here, my IPOD is installed on the PC to get loaded, so no Ferrari logo yet.

Hey Guys, I just bought the Ipod cable and installed it to my 2015 458 Italia since my car did not have that option from new. Now that it is installed I connected to my Iphone 11 using the apple adapter and it only charges but it will not play music. I can now see the Ipod option in the dashboard display but it wont let me choose the ipod option. Can some one please help me fix this problem. Is it because the iphone is too new?

you can’t use a iPhone! Only an iPod. I believe the Ferrari interface is only supports a iPod. My 2012 458 uses an iPod and it works fine. Just very limited to random play only!
