    Drivers Door Switch
My drivers side push-pin interior light switch is acting up. Most times the interior lights do not come on when the door opens unless I jiggle the pin of the switch... Looks like a bad switch...
Some say these can be interchanged with the 308 door switch. Some say not, and it's not easy to find.
    Any tips?

    Overhead Interior Light
I'm sure I'm about to reveal some extreme lack of intelligence on this, but don’t fully understand the positions / operation of the overhead light. Perhaps some of this might be due to the bad switch.

Overhead light switch fully forward (pointing towards windscreen) = Overhead light always on regardless of doors open or not.

Light switch in the middle = Always off

Light switch fully back = Overhead light always on regardless of door open or shut.
The above description is of course when I have jiggled the door switch so that things "work."

the 3 positions are always on, off and timed. I have a 87 328 and I cant remember which one is which but it wont turn off right away when the door is shut. It stays on for 15 seconds or so. I can time it and see which one is which when I get home if it would help.

I don't know if the 328 has 2 driver side door jam switches, the second being for the key-in-ignition while door-is-open chime (a federal safety mandate ?huh?). But if so, it can be sacrificed for the dome light switch by reversing the two. I.e. put the intermittent dome light wire onto the good key... switch and versa visa. For 308 cars it's a smart and easy fix and who cares about an unsafe key...chime.

Re buying switches...my 1980 car has one white button type switch and one pin type on the driver's side. I bought a couple of the eBay switches from one of the FChat sponsors and it was totally different than the original white plunger design promised. Although it had a white plunger, the car mount had a screw hole and elliptical flange requiring drilling a hole in the car to mount it. This naturally required returning to vendor costing return postage and time...BUYER BEWARE
