Getting my intake manifold back together next week. I have searched, but can't find what sealant to use on the upper gasket. The old ones were glued to the outter cover side. I have read about Hondabond HT, but haven't used it before. I have previously used Permatex Aviation form-a-gasket on other projects and that seemed to be similar to the residue on the old gasket, as well as on the threads of the velocity stacks/trumpets inside the manifold when removed. Is a light coating of this on the gasket or mating surface correct? It was sealed up well when I took it apart, is there a particular area these are known to leak from to pay attention to?

Also does the lower gasket atop the heads get anything or is that put on dry? The old one came off without any past adhesive, and seemed to not have any vacuum leaks. I did get the updated aluminum Gasket 324050.

I use exactly the same thing the factory did. Nothing. It works perfectly.

Interesting and thank you. That’s for the lower gasket, yes. You’re also saying The upper/cover gasket should be installed dry as well? Simply going by how mine came apart, they were glued on (very well). Not your technique, however?

I also found an old thread you mentioned about a TSB for the intake horns unscrewing. The threads on Mine were lathered in a thin layer of sealer or form a gasket material.

Are these TSBs on file or available on Fchat or elsewhere to the general public? I try to do my research before asking the questions.

Not my technique, not the factories technique and not the technique of anyone I want working on one of my cars. If the factory did not do it why would you?

I have no idea what the factory procedure is, hence the question. I can only work with how my car came apart. Last major service I have records for was from a Ferrari dealer in 2019

And C'mon man, you more than anyone on here criticizes or flat out sh!ts on Ferrari all the time about their, quality control, their parts, their procedures and what the factory or other Ferrari trained mechanics did or didn't do. Im just trying to get on the same page.

All I want is my car returned to same standard you would provide your customers.

Good point- Rifledriver is far too quick to get on at people.
