Instructions for installing a Tranzit Blu HF Bluetooth music streaming and hands-free device. Its cheap and it works.

I've been using the Becker iPod cable to play music from my iPhone. The cable was in the glovebox. This is proven to be a real pain. So over the weekend I installed a Transit Blu HF bluetooth device that streams music direct to the radio. And at the push of a button you get all the iPhone SIRI features if you want to use them. Give commands, make a call, all with the included microphone. It took about an hour and a half since I took my time.

    1. Remove the radio using the 2 keys (my car came with a set). Push in until you hear a click and can pull the radio straight out. The keys are removed by pushing in on the little tabs on the side (see the screwdriver)

    2. Unplug the connectors and antenna cable. The bottom is for power, the middle plug is for speaker connections and the top one was where I had the Becker cable plugged in (if you have a CD player in the truck, that's the cable for that (I think)

    3. I purchased an adapter for the power connector which made things a whole lot simpler. It plugs in between the radio and the power cable and has 3 wires to connect switched power (red) ground (black), and an always-on (yellow) that Is not needed. Insulate that one. If you don't get the adapter, you'll have to find switched power somewhere. buy the power cable adapter...

    4. Solder or crimp the power cable from the Tranzit to the red and black wires on the adapter cable.

    5. You'll need to buy a pair of antenna cable adapters to match up to the Becker radio. see below

    6. There is a small button that you can position where ever it's convenient. I placed mine out of site under the steering wheel in the cavity with the handle that adjusts the tilt of the wheel. Its easy to reach and all you do is press for 2 seconds to activate the commands. Siri: "press the accelerator please" jk

    7. I placed the microphone next to the instrument cluster until I can find a better spot.

    8. Run the wires and hide the excess under the dash (you could fit a volkswagen up there)

    9. Turn on your bluetooth and search for Transit Blu. Connect. There is an app for iPhone and android that allows you to choose the frequency. You can select a station you already use so you don't waste a button. Make sure you turn up the volume on the iPhone/android to max. You can connect more than 1 bluetooth device but only 1 can be on in the vicinity.

The auction site has the Transit Blu everywhere for $70-90 (got mine from 702motoring)
The antenna adapters are about $20 and the power cable adapter is $10. Adapters are from"discountcarstereo" No affiliation to either of these places..

    Happy streaming

I also installed this on my 360 - the sound quality is great (or, as great as possible considering the quality of the stock speakers!).
