1. Stop using CAPs, the world wide web can hear you just fine. 2. An F430 drivetrain belongs in an F430. 3. An F355 should have an F355 drivetrain.
I was going to post a warning to you half an hour ago Wind. But i thought i would let it ride, being that this could well be a "wind up"
Must be kidding. I agree F430 engine belongs in F430. By the time this conversion would be done, may as well buy an F430!!
355 is the sweetest sounding Ferrari on the planet! Has plenty of HP, more than enough to get you inter serious trouble all day long. why on earth would you stick a 430 setup in one? Assuming you could wedge it in there, nad make all the other adjustments required. I wonder what the weight difference is. I'm sure you'd upset the balance of the handling if it's much heavier than the 355 engine. OH, AND TURN OFF YOUR CAPS KEY. YOU DON'T NEED TO YELL IN HERE.
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/search.php?searchid=2230135 Three of the threads he has started have been closed by mods. He has been shopping for a 355 for almost three years....nuff said.
I just want to mention that the trans is pointed the wrong way in a 430. It might be sticking out through the back bumper!
If the engine ever went "tink" in my former 355, I was going to investigate having my hot rod shop put in a Maserati engine. Steve
Steve - Your former 355 is running like a jewel! If you ever decide to pull the trigger on a 360, I'd love to meet you on a track for a heads up race. James
Guys, Before we continue to criticize the original poster for using CAPS, I should note that there is at least one user on FerrariChat (a user-Emeritus I might add) who uses all caps because a disease prevents him from seeing very well. Perhaps we might be sensitive to the possibility that the original poster uses CAPS for a reason.
Sorry to wake up this thread but the swap is in progress - in my neck of the woods no less... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.334261416672912.71590.313304648768589&type=1
Well done ! I love to see this very interesting project. I think there is nothing impossible if you really go for it. the f355 engine is fantastic, but we don't need to be extremists, every rose has it's thorn, and every engine has it's inner problems too. So if your engine is blown, why don't to think about swapping to an upgraded one? the f430 engine is more powerful, more modern, has timing chain, more reliable, and the f1 gearbox is faster too... the problem, the money.
Has anyone ever tried to stick a caterpillar engine in there 355 yet? I was thinking of a 3406, the torque to weight would be about 1:1 and the sound would be, well it would sound like a truck, but who does't like trucks?
Wow! This is going to be one fast 355. I hope the owner gets on fchat and shares the project with us.
Make all the fun you want but I'm very interested to see how this turns out. Lots of advantages of going this route if you must replace the engine. Anyone in the area that can swing by the shop doing the work for some first hand commentary?
Put nitrous on it, at this point the sky's the limit . Call fast and loud they mite give you a show and help finance that project.
