Is this video real? I like to push the envelope as much as the next guy, but this is completely irresponsible. What do you think? Oh, and it also sounded like someone was strangling a cat at the same time :)

Cant really see traffic. I think i counted 4 or 5 cars on the right lane(s). per description, this is Germany where they know the left lane is for passing and not sleeping at 60mph like in the US.

At about :18 he's going about 178 MPH as he passes a truck. Then at the :44 point he passes another truck.

I'll put you down as one vote for "not insane" :)

So far the talley is tied

Nothing crazy about it, as long as conditions permitted. The autobahn is one of the last places to enjoy a car. A vicarious moment. Best

Only thing I'd like to comment on is:

    1) What a crappy music selection.

    And

    2) I'd recommend a new camera guy!

Looking at the video and making some easy calculations it seems to me that 0-300 km/h for this car (and this owner since it could be different with a pro driver) is close to 29 seconds.
Considering the 650 S (as a reference ) quoted at 25,4 sec. this means that the difference between the two is < 3,5 sec . Not too bad for the Speciale with 45 hp less and similar weight.

just another day in the office........

what's insane about that? insanity is what most ferrari drivers can be accused of when they poke around at 60mph in their super cars. not this guy.

The OP asked if it was real, absolutely - who would go to so much trouble to create a doctored video without putting a decent piece of music to it.

Out of curiosity, at what point would this become insane? 250, 300, 500 MPH. assume same conditions as video...dry roads, night, same traffic, etc. I already know the answer, but I'm just curious :) personally, I'm fine up to about 400 MPH, but after that I just can't see far enough ahead of my headlights which could be a little dangerous IMHO :)

In Germany "they" know the right lane is for passing....

... not everyone on the autobahn is from "Germany"..

..some are retirees from Florida on their first visit to the "old country" in a rental car...

and more than a few drunks on the road at night..

200 and above should only be used for the track :)

At that speed you are covering nearly 300 feet per second.

I've seen a lot worse. Not insane by any means. Going fast on the Autobahn during nighttime can be even better than in daytime. Less traffic and cars are very easy to see due to the lights ect. Unless there are Polish lorries in the inside lane - go for it.

I vote "not insane." It depends on the jurisdiction you live in. I wouldn't do it in the US, but other jurisdictions are more relaxed. Also traffic and weather conditions allowing these cars are made for this. I have certainly seen it done many times where I am.
