    has anyone tried to infuse gin or vodka? what were the results and what ingredients were used. i'm thinking of trying several gin based concoctions. i'm working towards a pimms flavor.

    I've infused vodka with fresh ginger - that was QUITE tasty.

    Had a great drink in Manhattan....muddled cucumbers, gin, habanero-lime simple syrup, pineapple juice, and a splash of soda.

    It got me thinking and I tried infusing some vodkas.

    My favorite 2 so far have been habanero pepper vodka and garlic-scape (stalk of garlic) vodka----made a ridiculous martini with the latter by pickling some of the scapes and making a dirty martini with the pickling juice and vodka.

    This is very common in Russian bars. I had horseradish infused vodka at one of these establishments as a sort of dare...not such a good idea.

    To me infusing gin is a bit strange because gin is already made with juniper berries...unless of course you want the juniper to be incorporated in the flavor. If the ingredient you want to infuse taste good on their own it can't hurt.

    A local bar does infused bourbon... since we are sometimes considered "the south" ;).

    Soaks apples and pears in Woodford for a week or so. Served on ice. Very tasty during the summer.
