I have been trying to find a Ferrari 250GT Pininfarina Coupe Speciale, s/n 1751? I posted about the car in the Early Car to 365 GT Archives, on a Thread titled "Old Family Ferrari Pictures".

I emailed Marcel Massini, and he replied to me today that #1751, has been in Colorado, with a new owner for the last few years. The first owner was a Milanese Industrialist named Mr. Invernizzi.

My interest in the car is that I almost bought it in 1970, here in Michigan, and a topic on 250GT PF's brought that car to mind and want to know where it is and where it has been? Does anyone know of the car or owner? It was last seen in The UK, and has been imported to The USA, and may be under restoration?

    Seasons Greetings...Paolo.

    Paolo,
I owned 1751 GT from 1983 thru 1988. Mike Dopudja brought the car to Denver in the late 70's from California. He did a full a restoration prior to selling it. I believe that there was one owner in between Mike and I. The car was beautiful and everything worked perfectly. The only problem was with the Houdaille lever action shock absorbers. There were two right side shocks on the front. The left side did not work properly (as it was inverted) as a result.

Are you sure that you looked at 1751GT in Michigan? 1121GT had covered headlights and was located in Michigan but no side vent, no bumper uprights, and the side marker light was located in the "B" piller on 1121 and in the front fender on 1751GT.
    Cheers,
    Ron Hetherington

    Ron,

Great to hear from you! Yes, I did look at and drive the car in Michigan, in August of 1970. Kare Pietila, from Helsinki, Finland, confirmed that 1751, was owned by Avery Greene, at that time, in post #126. This is in a group of posts on the car in the "Vintage thru (365GTC4) site", in "Old Family Ferrari Photos", posted by pgb67, on his Fathers and Families Ferrari's, from that era. A great pleasure to read. My posts start at #125, and others from Kare, and Darren, from London, UK and Marcel Massini, Bern, Switzerland, have something to say on the origins of #1751. Very interesting reading!

Ron, I remember this car as having DRUM Brakes and not Discs. #1121 would have possibly had Drum Brakes and 16" Borrani's, because of the earlier series. If Avery Greene, also owned #1121 at this time, then it maybe a definite possibility, but I think it's #1751. It seems this car has had several owners and been many places in the USA and Europe. It's been fun tracking it and discovering it's History. I haven't talked to Avery Greene, yet, but he may have some important things to tell us.
Do you know who the current owner is and where? Any current pictures of the car?

    Seasons Greetings and Ciao...Paolo

Hi guys, hope this post will clear everything up.

The car is in fact still here in the UK.
The pictures of it in blue were taken at my 'shop about a year ago.
The car is in a pretty bad way.
It has had 9 - yes nine, colour changes without being stripped and there is now no definition of bodylines, gaps or levels. There is a hell of a lot of filler in it.
    The interior is totally trashed.
The chrome has been cheaply & badly re-done, with edges rounded off and severe marking.
The fuel tank is punctured & the engine doesn't run.
    The wiring is wrecked.
The suspension & chassis have been brush painted in black over everything!
This car has really suffered at the hands of poor quality cosmetic workmanship.
Yes it is on disc brakes & 15" wheels.
It has had 3 owners since being in the UK.
We undertook no work other than investigative on the car as we ran into a disagreement with the owner over the budget on another project which put us out of business.
I have been told that the car subsequently went to another restorer where it was stripped completely. The owner & restorer also ran into a disagreement and I believe that the car has now been returned to it's owner in the north of England in pieces.

If anyone would like anymore info, please let me know.
    Best wishes, Al.
