    Both a little bit heavy and without the laser focus handling of a Porsche GT product but oh, what a drivetrain in each. You won't get the Italian leather smell in a Chevy product, but the price point. Thoughts?

    My C8 Z06 was very well built and was a blast to drive. If they did the same with the ZR1 I can only imagine how it would drive on a track.

    Sf90 has posted good lap times tbh re: handling
    Has depreciated tons though so will be interesting to compare used vs new prices vs the zr

    No comparison. 1,000 hp with AWD will always win off the line and pulling out of corners. ;)
    Now, the Zora, that will be apples to apples. :D

    For the price of 1 SF90, I can get 2 (maybe even 3) C8 ZR1s.

    Mid-engine, RWD with a 5.5L/1,064-hp/828-lb-ft twin-turbo DOHC 32-valve flat plane V-8

    So delicious.

    So, yes, sign me up.

    In fact, I already signed up. :D

    You know Chevy has a home run on their hands when ZR1 is being compared directly with the Ferrari production car flagship.

    The SF90 is more appropriately compared to the E-Ray Corvette.

    Is anyone cross-shopping these? I might add the ZR-1, but not instead of any Ferrari. Lots of differences besides “the badge”.

    Pros and cons of each. I’ve never wanted a vette, even before I could afford a Ferrari. This one I will probably order.

    The ZR1 will be a very good performer. Should be a very competitive car with regards to performance to the SF90, outside of 0-60. My primary issue with it is the looks. I personally think all C8s are ugly.

    I will place zr1 next to gt3rs in order to compete..Maybeee with gt2rs.
    SF90 is not in the same league.

    I’m not sure what you mean by compete, but one example with regard to track times would be the Zhejing Circuit. The SF90 is the fastest street car on the list, beating both the 992 GT3RS and the GT2 RS.

    My guess is the ZR1 will either take the spot right behind the SF90 on the list, or the spot above it. But it’ll be close.

    Same goes for Mortefontaine. SF90 holds the lap record there, ahead of GT3RS, GT2RS, and even the Senna. The ZR1 will have its full with the SF90.

    Maybe so, but America is obviously the most crucial market. You might stop short of making the same comparison, but if anyone remains unimpressed by what GM did with ZR1, leapfrogging the total horsepower of every mainstream production car ever made and without the benefit of electric gadgetry, then they simply are not serious people. The ZR1 is an undeniable technological tour de force, and until GM did it, I’m not sure very many even thought that it could be done.

    Placed deposit on Vette - dealer says two years away.
    Vette was built in St Louis then Kentucky maybe factory sends, white sneakers / blue jean shorts ... Ground chuck vs wagyu - neither on the same menu, meaning no one is trading SF90 into the Chevy dealership - just the opposite.

    Dodge Hennessey - why wouldn't GM be able to make like cheap hp.
    I think these factories always could easily make this amount - the question is why.
    Mustang Dodge HEMI Vette owners don't have a great reputation for reason :)
    We know guys with reliable 1500 - 2000hp - we also know they can't keep them between the lines.
     
  23. Um, because emissions (for all parts of the world, not just the US of A)? Factory warranty period (that covers the entire car, i.e. shocks, suspension, etc. and not just the drivetrain)? Drivability?

    You ever drive a Hennessy Charger Hellcat? Yeah 1000+ hp is nice on paper, even on a smooth drag strip, but just driving it around it's almost unbearably twitchy. No thank you.

    Aftermarket tuners live by very different parameters and standards than OEM marques.

    Why wouldn't it be doable? The specific output of the SF90 Stradale's V8 is even higher. The crux of the matter is how the ZR1 will perform in practice.

    Of course, super boutique niche engine builders (Cosworth, Hennessey, etc) can produce bespoke limited production engines, but GM has committed to building as many ZR1 engines as needed to meet the market demand. How many will that be? 5,000? 10,000? It’s the mega volume component combined with the mainstream auto maker factor that makes the ZR1 engine so fascinating. At a time when all the other manufactures are doing circus contortions to fit themselves into a tight regulatory box, GM decided to go full send on a mega ICE beast.

    Most importantly, it leaves every auto enthusiast wondering about the alternate universe where the other automakers decided to go the same direction. How much better more interesting would that universe be?
