I am looking for a good independent mechanic for a 328 in the San Francisco and/or Mill Valley area for standard services etc. Can anyone in the area recomend any? Or, is Ferari of SF/Mill Valley the best choice?

    I'd be interested as well.
So far I've used the mechanic that worked on my Porsches for the last 10 yrs because I've got a great relationship with him. He used to work on the 3x8 cars in the 70's-80's so he is familiar with the quirks but I would like to find a mechanic that is set up primarily for F-cars.

    Thanks in advance.

I had very good experience with "Waterfront Automobili" 1310 17th St
San Francisco, CA 94107. Phone: (415) 861-2223 . It is in the Potrero Hill area of San Francisco (pretty close to the Baseball stadium). They only work on Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Maseratis...

I sent this thread link to my buddy Kris, who may make some time to help you guys. He put my 308 together from boxes (As it was taken out of Wayne Hynes shop last year in Livermore). Kris is a hot mechanic and knows his way around these cars. He just rebuilt my front suspension and just about did it with his eyes closed. When he was done, the alignment was dead-nuts on!!

He takes care of my 328 and my Daytona.

His name is so good it is often mentioned in FML ads when people sell their cars.

He just threatened to kick me in mine if I tried to help him a lot! He gets things done a hell of a lot faster without Ten-Thumb Pete helping!

Yes, Patrick Otis is consistently recommended. He was recommended by Tony Palladino, also frequently recommended. When I once called up PO, I was told they were so busy that they were considering not accepting new customers. That was about three or four years ago.

In San Rafael, there is an independent shop called Giorgio Motors, run by a fellow named Giorio. (Not sure of spelling.) He's been in the biz many years and sounds like a nice guy. He was referred to me by Dave Hillman, the parts manager at FoSF for the Maserati Bora I had at the time, which I sold before taking to Giorgio.

Giorgio's shop is somewhere near FoSF's service center in San Rafael.

BTW, I would not assume FoSF is necessarily a reliable source of service. AFAIK, they have only one or two guys that work on older cars. A guy named John worked on my 328 but forgot to put the spare back in the trunk, which I accidentally discovered before leaving the premises.
