Hey guys, I'm a new 328 GTS owner in Livonia, MI and am wondering if anyone has a recommended mechanic/shop locally. I don't need any work done now but am thinking that over the winter I might want to have a major service done. I visited the Ferrari dealership here and don't think I'm interested in having them do the work. I know there's a place in Cleveland and also Columbius which could work but it would be nice to find a reputable guy a little closer. Appreciate any ideas.

I know you said you prefer not to use the dealer but I have used Cauley for over 10 years and they are great. By far always the best repair experience of any place I have ever had any of my cars serviced. Of course do what you feel best. I enjoy the piece of kind knowing that the best are servicing and taking care of my Ferrari.

Talk to Jeff Jones at Automotive Techniques. He's a porsche specialist who also works on Ferraris. He really knows his stuff and is a stand up guy.

Also, as stated above, Cauley is a top notch dealership and service facility.

I would highly recommend working with Cauley Ferrari. Discuss any concerns you have with Joe Abernethy, the Aftersales Manager. He and his techs are a major part of my ownership experience...they've saved me thousands of dollars by tracing root cause, instead of throwing parts at my car.

I have heard nothing but praise for Jeff Jones as well. Spken to him a few times and wow, a thoughtful and respectful guy.

I have to agree that all the work I have had done at Cauley was top notch. What was the reason you were not interested in having them do your work? You can talk to Joe (and Bob, Tim, etc) ahead of time and during the work to see what they are doing. They are straight shooters and do great work.

Spoken with them in person at length. I'm going elsewhere.

(I still think you can ask around about something like "V&M" in the Oak Park/Royal Oak area of town but no guarantees on that. I thought I recalled it was some very Italian sounding guy and his son (?) that had maintained someone's Lamborghini.)

Thank you, Frank! Obviously I remembered almost enough to be helpful. I haven't had to take my car to anyone, and I live close to Cauley, but it's good to have more sources.
