Hey everyone. I was curious as I may end up moving to Japan in the future, what costs and is necessary to import my F430?

I have seen many threads with different breakdowns of costs, but none seem to line up with each other. Has anyone done this before?

I only know how to import cars into the US.

But I’d question whether you really want a LHD car in Japan. I wouldn’t.

It’s not ideal, the car just has immense sentimental value to me and I wouldn’t want to sell it and buy another. Plus would be mostly be driving it around the country side in Kyushu, not a ton of traffic around mount Aso.

Japanese Ferrari 328 type are LHD. To my knowledge just very few UK or Australian ( so RHD ) 328 were imported to Japan

    328 GTS: Total production: 6,068, 542 RHD
    328 GTB: Total production: 1,344, 130 RHD

672 is a lot of RHD cars, clearly some made it to Japan.

Not “Ferrari japanese model are ALL LHD car.”

    Of course. Just like Japan.

No Japanese Ferraris were exclusively LHD. Site a source rather than just claiming it’s a fact.

    That’s not citing a source.

You might as well say you heard it directly from the angels.

    Matt

PS. You’re wrong about the 672 RHD cars being for UK only.

My understanding (which is not gospel!) is that in Japan you can choose to order your Ferrari as either RHD or LHD. Most choose LHD. But I don't know of any Ferrari which is restricted to only LHD in Japan, apart from the LHD only specials.

Themaven you are correct. My wife is from Japan and it is common to order LHD because some folks think it’s “cool” to have one instead of standard RHD.

Is there a better place to post this where it may be seen by people who have done this before? Still very interested in others’ experiences.

I used to broker/export/import 100's of (mostly vintage) cars around the globe in late '80s and would recommend contacting/contracting a company specializing in all aspects of it.
I've never personally done business with www.cosdel.com , but they seem to have quite stellar reputation and might be well suited to advise/assist as needed.
