Maserati of Ontario is hiring. I saw it while exploring the TADA site.

Check the postings. On the first page they have 2 job offerings, not sure if there's more but if you to check it out go to:

Automotive Careers - Dealership Jobs - TADA

I have no affiliation; at one time I dreamed of working there but that dream has moved on in life 😎

They don't pay very well. I was offered a job there recently. It would be a huge pay cut for the "privlage". That don't pay the bills. You get what you pay for.

You would be lucky if you pulled in 50k a year working there. They have the view that it is a privlage to work there. And you are expected to voulenteer your time on the race weekends.

I know a few ford and GM techs that pull in over 100k a year working on cavaliers. And I can't say that I'm not temped to switch gears and head over to one of those dealers for the money. It's just incredible what some of these guys pull in. One fellow that works at GM cleared 140k last year. Worked his butt off but. He saved every penny, while his wife who makes less, paid the bills. He did that for 3 years. Saved close to 400k and bought a beautiful home for 700k, has a 300k mortgage. He lives right next door to multiple millionaires, but is a mechanic working at a GM dealer.

Like the old saying goes..work on fords drive a Ferrari, work on Ferrari's drive a ford..

If you want a job in the trade, on the import side of things, head to a BMW or Mercedes dealer. They treat you we'll, and you get a good pay cheque at the end of the week.

That (low pay) is bred back in Maranello. My wife's cousins live near tha Ferrari factory, and they noted to us that Ferrari doesn't pay their employees well. They have people lining up to work there - apparently - from around the world.

I guess FoO is just following factory protocol!

Here in quebec the highest i'v seen is 35$/ hour( no flat rate here). To get that you need a 'A class card' , need experience and be lucky to work at a good place. No 100k mechanic here.

surprising as the shop rate makes one think that the mechanic is getting paid very well. I guess it all goes into the dealers pocket.

    Don't I wish!!

And no it doesn't all go into the dealers pocket. It goes to overhead. Tools, one scan tool can cost close to 100k, heat, hydro, telephone, inventory, paying staff, insurance, advertising, you name it, it has a price tag.

The warranty rate is a calculation based on technician salaries , tools, training, certification and a couple other factors, Dealer reps must audit these numbers (T4 and tool check) on a regular basis (annual, bi-annual). Dealers will always try to play the game but do not be fooled they are caught. If a dealer wished to do retail work for less that is his call, but often they will not.

I have seen trans techs in TO earn 140K 10 years ago but an audit did catch their fraudulent methods. In Quebec I can say that some master techs do earn high 70s with company cars ( No such thing as ClassA tech there) . In summary yes a 3rd year apprentice may only make 25K , but a talented worker in a real OE store will go up quickly and the younger hungry guy even faster especially those electronics, engine and transmission guys.

In a flat rate retail environment the alignment techs may make less per hour but will make a lot of gain time (in the order of 60 hrs work in a 40hr week)
