    McLaren and Hyundai

Ron Dennis said McLaren must become title contenders by leaving a customer team in favor of becoming independent main works engine partner team like in the past when McLaren had Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot tenures. As Toyota stated they will not return to Formula 1 in the future, McLaren rather collaborate with South Korean automotive mainstream giants Hyundai as a works engine partner and supplier by 2027 or 2028. In early 2023, Abiteboul ever stated that Hyundai still evaluating Formula 1 entry as an engine supplier in the future.

Your opinions? Do you like to see McLaren join forces with Hyundai?

No, Hyundai is completely unknown as F1 engine supplier.

Just having the best warranty is no indication of their engine durability.......

If done, they're better off branding as Genesis

Most people would associate the name Genesis with a rock band.
It's not a brand marketed worldwide. Mostly in the US outside Soth Korea. Total global sales 220K in 2022.
But Hyundai is a well known car manufacturer with 3.94 millions global sales in 2022.
It's a no brainer which one would benefit from F1 exposure.

Anyway, McLaren has decided to continue with Mercedes powertrains until 2030 !

McLaren has admitted it is reliant on more investment from its Bahraini owner to stay afloat after losses at the business more than doubled last year. McLaren's losses swelled from £135m in 2021 to £349m last year, newly published accounts show.

Hummm ... McLaren may go through rough times like Aston Martin did, I don't doubt it.
But I would be surprised of they disappear totally.
Usually the debts are rescheduled, new investors come along, and the company has new owners.
Remember Aston Martin went through bankruptcy several times, and at least 9 different owners !!
In any case, I believe the racing team is separate from the car company.

So do I. Ferrari also survived, being rescued a few times, and going through different ownerships.
Same as Rolls Royce, Bentley, etc ...

I don't think that Aston will exist as a car manufacturer in 10 years time.

The luxury automakers that have chosen the path of electrification will disappear.
It’s as simple as that ( Lotus for example)
Try selling a swatch for the price of a Patek!:D

Your prejudices get the best of your judgement, I think.
The mode of propulsion is not so importany for many, and luxury can exist on electric vehicles too.
I have been passenger in electric cars, and it wasn't a bad experience to me.
I can see why they are heralded as progress, as long as one is open-minded enough.
I don't prophesise the total disparition of ICE in future, but I guess electrification will be the norm.
Luxury automakers on the whole will adapt it; Rolls-Royce, Porsche, Corvette, Jaguar among others are about to launch electric models very soon. I'm pretty sure they did serious market researched beforehand.

Currently here in the states, EV's sit on the lot on average at least 12 months. Most automakers are slowing down EV production since the market isn't taking off on EV's along with buying incentives from the current administration. ALOT of dealerships here in the states wrote a letter to the current President about EV's and what the market is suggesting given the Administration's PUSH for EV's. I seriously think that that letter will fall on deaf ears. As a matter of fact, they will ramp up even further the push for EV's. This Administration is not listening to anyone but themselves. They are tone deaf.

A 4 cylinder new car costs half as much as a same size EV.....and people are keeping their current gas powered cars for even longer durations.

Again, the market here in the states currently doesn't like EV's and IMO EV's should be decided by what the market suggests and not by a Government Administrations narrative.
