Just got these pics from Carrs Ferrari in the UK buttoning up my newly acquired 599 HGTE. They've done a spectacular job IMHO with great attention to detail and regular updates.

Reason for post is I'm searching for the ID plate on the front engine cover even if it requires going thru the factory. Any idreas?

    Cheers

    Mark

It was used on cars up to the Portofino so surely best bet is to get Carrs to ask factory very nicely

@marklintott Congratulations on the new car but may I ask what the heck happened to it before you bought it?

Good question! It's been neglected a bit and underused for a few years although it has very complete service history etc. The last owner had the car for a couple of years but preferred his Aston apparently...
Rest of the car - interior etc is in good shape. Total mileage is about 27000 miles. Love it all the same!

So on the 599 all you get is an assembly number. On North American cars it's in front of the drivers side valve cover. This number also lets techs know what version ECU is in the car.

Thanks George, Yes I have all those various id plates per spec but the metal plate fixed to the front engine cover under the hood is missing. Hoping to find a source or even an accurate dimension so I could make a temporary one myself..

    Thanks anyway

The owners manual will tell you exactly the various locations where you can find the various numbers stamped. And I am not just talking about the assembly number.
Here are some sample pix from a 599 GTB I used to own many moons ago. The actual chassis number stamping on the frame is on the engine compartment on the right side main frame a bit low and partially hidden, close to the firewall.

On a 812 Superfast you can find the chassis number stamping in the passenger foot room, after you remove floor and carpet.
    Here's a sample pic.

Thanks everyone, Marcel and all. The one I've lost is this one under the hood and I'm trying to find a source or maybe the dimensions so I could mock up my own while I find a proper replacement.

    Thanks again everyone.

Suggest you ask your official Ferrari dealer, for sure they will get you a new one, might take some time.

Hi Mark - believe it or not you will have to go through an official Ferrari dealership to request the chassis ID badge due to security reasons / car cloning and it will not be cheap. Ferrari will only deal with an official dealership on these matters.
The dealership will have to send Ferrari numerous pictures of the car to provide proof of ownership, only when satisfied will they send you a new chassis id plate.
I was quoted around £400 /£500 for all this work by my local dealer.
If you have already searched Scuderia Parts you will notice that specific id plates like this require " SAT " approval, talk to them and they will advise you that you must use an official Ferrari dealership for purchase.

In my case i required the vehicle identification plate that is found just inside the passenger central door pillar.

Can i suggest you try Brunel Engraving at Clevedon Nr Bristol and speak to Caroline. She will take you through the complete process Mark.
They do one off identification plates at very reasonable prices.
You will have to provide pictures of the chassis id plate, and all of the dimensions.

Hey thanks a lot for the information - just what I was hoping for as an interim solution. I can probably print one in carbon on my office printer.
    Thanks

Yes, I expected it to be this difficult but as I said its understandable and not so bad as it does help prevent cloning etc.
If Carrs are unwilling or their cost is too high I'll definitely follow up as you suggest.

    Thanks again

Hi there, Really sorry to bother you with this but could you possibly double check the overall measurements you gave me. The proportions don't quite work out with the photo. I get either 38.8 wide x 56.3 tall or its 40wide x 57.9 tall....
Small diff but without the car in front of me (its in the UK and I'm not) it would be good to know for sure.
    Really appreciate it

    Mark

Hi Mark, no bother at all. The photo is not to scale, its just a quick one off my phone and cropped with "constrain proportions and scale" turned off. I will check this evening when I get home.
