Under System Settings (I think ? ) It's one of the first options. "Update Software". If you're already online, there's a chance that the PS3 updated itself.
Rumor is that they'll have it all worked out for the GT HD release. Remember, they're developing the software with Logitech, so expect to see a new FFB wheel, probably in Bluetooth. I keep getting my ass kicked racing F1 online. I can only guess that these people have wheels.
There is nothing to be worked out: PS3 uses USB connection, so my Logitech FFB wheel works just fine with GT4. No need for a new wheel or any tweaking. I have given up playing the F1 game with the wheel with no feedback. I have no feeling whatsoever what the car is doing. So I doubt you're up against "wheel people". The patch you're referring to is the systems upgrade. I already did that. That addresses some other issues in the F1 game but not FFB.
Just read an interview with Hamilton and he talks about playing this game on the PS3 against his brother. Because the current version doesn't have him in the game yet, he drives as Kimi.
It is always the best strategy in this game to play the fastest driver so you don't have to compete against that guy. From that perspective he should be playing Alonso or MS, but if he wants to drive a McLaren, then Kimi is the better choice.
Anybody here post some fast times in the GTHD demo? Hopefully I'm still in the top 5 with the 599, under normal car and forward course direction. If I'm still there you can look at my replay. I did it with the GT4 wheel, and I want to keep it that way, since no else seems to be able to post fast times with it.
I just stumbled upon this thread. I also went out and bought a PS3 / GT4 steering wheel / 1080p setup just for the F1 CE game and GT HD. I play the current F1 track (in the real season) for a week or so before every race airs. Then when I watch the live race, I get su much more out of it than when I watched in past seasons. I can identify every turn now. A must have for any true F1 fan! I am also Top 5 list on many of the rankings in GT HD (also using the wheel). My handle is Tom360Modenaf1. What is yours? It kills me that the F1 game doesn't have force feedback to the wheel. Also, is there a way to set a 'dead zone' in the center of the wheel? It is far too sensitive to the slightest input. I really hope they come out with an updated GT HD demo, which features Nürburgring. I can't wait another 18 months for the full game. I need the 'Ring! -Tom
Fully agreed. GT4 has the Ring in its full length. And unlike Heidfeld, you can actually race it at speed in a modern F1.
besides set up what else can u do?? can u test new parts and do friday test and sat morning test and things like that?
My PS3 name is the same one I have here. And yes I agree with the wheel on the F1 game being far too sensitive. If you look at real F1 cars' steering wheels, some have more free play than 180 degrees. Keep an out for E3 this July. I'm pretty sure well get to see some actual Gran Turismo 5 footage and a release date. And hopefully that game will support the new wheel with the clutch pedal and gated shifter.
http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/g25/ Fair warning. This thing is not fully supported by any PS2 or PS3 game available right now. So if you buy it for your PS2/PS3, while it will retain the exact same features as the GT4 wheel, the gated shifter and clutch pedal will be useless. GT5 will probably fully support it, but that still remains to be seen. However, I know of one PC game, probably more, that fully support this wheel. Bump to an old thread. I got my PS3 yesterday. I have Motorstorm and F1 Championship Edition. Was amazed when i saw the Renault RS01 and the Lotus 79 sitting in my garage!! What other vintage cars are in the game, and how do you get them?
Thanks for the bump, forgot all about this thread. F1 Championship Edition really is useless: I tried again over the weekend, but you not only have no force feedback, the game makes the Logitech steering wheel so incredibly light, the slightest touch and you're in the wall. You have no precision whatsoever. What were they thinking?
Im not into the "Total Sim" thing completely, i do like to have fun and mess around occasionally, but not all the time. Overall i love the game. My only complaints are; I dont know how to unlock more vintage F1 cars(help anyone?) and the lighting in "time trial" mode SUCKS!
I understand and I could even live with a bit of less realism. But as it stands I have not enough control over the steering. I wish there was a setting to change the responsiveness and linearity of the wheel because I simply can't steer this way. I was trying one race and after two turns I crashed uncontrollably into the wall. No fun.
Andreas - you are right. F1 CE is fun for watching and learning the F1 tracks, but the feedback is absolutely terrible (actually, nonexistent). But the good news is that Sony settled with IMMR, meaning future games will have force feedback. If you do a firmware upgrade on your PS3 then pop in your old Gran Turismo 4 disc, it will now have proper upscaling to 1080i/p, and the firmware upgrade finally allows feedback (even with the wheel). Meaning it will play better than it did on PS2. I have also been playing GTR 2 for PC recently, which has fully customizable wheel settings. It has now replaced rFactor as my PC driving simulator of choice. Try it out!
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is now available in Japan, and for some reason, they made the game region free. That means we can buy it and play it now before the US release in March (if you are completely impatient, like me). Here is the listing of the cars and tracks: http://www.gran-turismo.com/en/gt5p/news/d1520.html It even includes Suzuka, one of my absolute favourites. Too bad it doesn't include Nurburgring. The game supports force feedback and the G25 wheel. I just ordered it here for $47.99 with free shipping: http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-c/version-all/section-games/did-5/pid-1004935478/ That is the cheapest price online, even cheaper than eBay. Here is the pertinent info you will need to play: Menu translations: http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=2855689#post2855689 For online play, you will need to create a Japanese PSN account. Instructions: http://blogs.ign.com/xheavenxsentx/2006/12/09/39684/ Let me know if you order. I am TifosiTom online. I'll see you at Suzuka in my F430.
Hello, Tom! Try GTL along with GTR 2. They're both great, but when Blimey! comes out with the Ferrari game, that will be unbelievable! I really like www.gogamer.com The pre-order for GT5 HD in the US, January 30, 2008 is here: http://www.gogamer.com/PS3-Simulations_stcVVcatId473205VVviewcat.htm
That looks awesome. May push me to finally get this: http://www.monkeysarcades.com/Hot_Seat_Racer_GT_p/hsrgt.htm
