Few weeks ago I sold my ex-Sandy flood TR to a fellow forum member. He may wish to introduce himself, but that would be his choice. I hope, he will enjoy the car for years to come.

Now I am slowly starting a search for a TR, which I am going to keep for a long time. Should be able to buy it around October, if things go well. Would prefer to buy from a forum member and those would be things, which I am looking for:

    1. Fuse box sorted, rear diff sorted, recent belt service.
    2. European LHD car from new, with full service history from day 1. Germany, Italy, NL, etc.
    3. Not from a dealer.
    4. Mid price range. I will not give exact number regarding this.
    5. Some people would not understand this, but I don't have particular preference for colour combination. Year is not that important either.
    6. No body modifications, like painted lower bumpers, ugly wheels, etc. Might have performance mods. Aftermarket exhaust would be a big plus.

So if anyone would be interested to sell their car later this year, feel free to get in touch. Thank you.

IMO, You are eliminating way too many potentially great cars with these parameters. Why worry about a diff, just do it yourself if it is something you're concerned about on a TR. Puts you in control of the upgrade and you will know that it gets done correctly, same with the other two wants. For me I would always prefer to purchase a nice well kept car which may need belts/service. Then I get to choose who does the work or I do it myself.

However, in Lithuania it may be much harder to find a competent mechanic.

    Congrats on the sale.

Now, your post and list of requirements.

Very tight list, and you are in a uphill battle. People who have such a car ( myself included ) will not let it go for the market value price "people think " it should be, mine will stay right here with a blanket in the garage.

Therefore, your search will require a lot of patience, and some luck, you may find someone motivated. I know of one car that was a one owner car 2 yrs ago that was a CHERRY 1990 red/tan with all the paperwork and 6,000miles on the clock , amd the owner sold privately and quickly for 85 grand with a fresh $12,000 full out service only 13 months prior , and the invoice to prove it ;)

Good luck in your hunt, and we look forward to what you find !

"Full Service history from day 1". I wonder what percentage of TRs that eliminates, especially combined with "Mid Price Range"? I would be of the mind that in & of itself would command a Premium.

You might as well add a 10k premium to your "Mid price range", (10k would be a great DEAL for those three items).

You've described a unicorn. It will not be mid price range.

And why would you want it to be? You're asking for these things because you believe they enhance the value of the car.

    Real World Value more like $20,000.00 ( Major $10,000.00 & Diff $5,000.00 & Fuse Upgrade $5,000.00)

I only speak for myself, if there were two Testarossas with everything being equal, other than "1" having Complete service records from day "1", & the other having an undocumented service record/s. I would personally value the from day "1" records as being worth at least $5,000.00 to the sale price of the Testarossa.

Well, of course, there has to be a compromise somewhere. But making a list helps with priorities. Thanks for all the input.

    That was my point exactly.
If and when I sell mine I will be pushing that point and dollar value.

Mine already has the fuse panel upgrade and gold connector kit in the engine bay.
The Newman carrier is on the shelf ready for the 30k service.

Unfortunately, at the point of sale the out of pocket price of the upgrades usually aren't realized dollar per dollar.

This is because of all the fchat nonesense threads in this section.

The day I sell my Testarossa for 80 grand is the day I add a shovel to the front bumper and do snow removal with it.

The owners in here are the cars worst enemies.

I am sure, that I will have to do compromises on my original list of requirements. But I am not in a rush - searching is big part of the fun.

So if you see a nice car around, just let me know :)

LHD only, RHD cars can't be registered in my country...

Taken into consideration cars that experience drastic appreciation over a relative short period of time ie; Dino, Countach.

Unless a car is purchased at Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay below market value, very few cars are "maintained", "upgraded" & sold for a profit.

Thus I don't see the reasoning or purpose of stating as you did "The owners in here are the cars worst enemies".

Case in point. A owner does a scheduled service/timing belt change for $10,000.00. A day later the owner goes to sell the car. Do you think the owner can charge more than the $10,000.00 cost of the service to the next buyer?!

There is a distinct difference between "Falling in love" with your car & "Knowing it's market Value".

Buyers Don't pay for how much YOU love your car, they pay for how much the car is WORTH!

Fchat nonsense has nothing to do with it.

It is rare with ANY car to re-coupe the money dollar for dollar spent on upgrades and maintenance.

It's the reality of the market place.
I learned this after buying and selling over 40 cars.

Buyers that know the market and know the car that they are looking at don't fall for the brand hype and emotional padding placed on an asking price.

I am also aware of those that buy on impulse. There are many out there that can afford to spend foolishly.
All it takes is the long-shot to hook one.

Sooooo Reassuring & Welcomed to read a post based on FACTS & Not Emotions. I Applaud you & your Firm Grasp of Reality, as opposed with some, whose emotions & reactive responses lead them to baseless statements.

If only your Rationale was the "Rule rather than seemingly at times the Exception".
