And a ton of gravel was laid on the roads. No way no how am I taking the 328 out with all that gravel on the road. See you all in May. -F
At least fire season should be later this year than last. Winter is ahead so far this spring in BV. Dave
+1 We need the moisture for water supply and fire danger. We were below 70% of the 30 year average. got a foot of snow yesterday at snowmass...and they closed. Aspen Highlands is still open for at least another week. Skico extended Highlands closing to April 27-8.
So far since last night about 10" here in Fort Collins, another 3-5 forecast for tonight, and more over the next couple of days. I agree we really need the moisture, so no complaints here. I will miss driving the Fcars this weekend, but they are tucked away nice and warm in the garage. At some point I will have to sit in them to get my leather high. Image Unavailable, Please Login
JeffCo just had the road sweepers out last week getting the sand/gravel off of 285. That's why I figured I would go get the 348 out and take care of emissions. The wait continues. About a foot of snow in Conifer.
That's what I kept telling myself as I looked at 2 feet on my deck. I'm not complaining. Especially considering I live in the middle of a national forest.
When you are out hiking this summer and come upon a lush meadow filled with so many wildflowers it makes you weep---thank your spring snows. Dave
Yeah, I should start thinking like that. They don't call them the Rocky mountains for nothing. Rocks and chips will happen. I'm patient. I can wait a month for the roads to clear up. -F
Got my car out of a full repaint last June on a Friday. Saturday morning, fresh rock chip and another straight through the glass fog lamp lens...eh, it's CO. Replaced the lens, paid homage to the road gods.
This just helps reinforce our move to California before next winter. Which I am fully ok with. We just don't get a long enough break from winter like weather.
Man, I'm going out of my mind. I am really looking forward to this driving season. I know I'm not alone. The car is ready to go. -F
And again. Actually, after going through this routine for about three years, I no longer get punked. As I said, seeing snow up to about Memorial Day doesn't surprise me in the least. -F
I'm still here. Just digging out. My kids actually got a snow day today. First one all year. 14 inches at my house last night. This spring snow is icy. Exciting drive down the canyon into work this morning. My wife said she's tired of shoveling snow off the decks. I told her to quit whining or the beatings will resume until morale improves.
Summer birds are returning. Today we had our first tree swallows, Say's phoebe (these nest on our house every year) western bluebirds (mountain bluebirds have been around about 6 weeks). Hummingbirds are due any day. Had elk on our property this AM leisurely eating, then taking a nap. I got two cars washed. Yippee! Dave
