It's a 1999 Honda XR650L. The perfect bike for someone who will live in CR in between contracts. She's about to get a lot of work done. I'll update this thread.

    Parts ordered:
Honda CRF450 forks that will be internally lowered one inch, and RSW triple clamps for them.
    Skid plate
    FMF muffler with quiet insert
Rear crash bars that are also bag mounts and rear deck.
    Waterproof bags
LED aux light mount to mount them on either side of the headlight
    Rear brake master cylinder guard
    Rear one inch lowering link
    Scotts steering stabilizer
    Already has:
    Handguards
    Pro taper bar
    Carb re-jetted for slip on
    Lower tooth front sprocket

Stickers and black rubber coating already peeled off everything. Front fender, tank, and headlight surround will be painted rattle-can red; leaving a strip not painted on the tank so I can see the fuel level.

As of 1 JAN 17 Costa Rica will not allow the importation of any vehicle older than 2004, so I found a 2012 XR650L on Craigslist with 1400 miles, new rear tire for only $4300. When I sell my 99 for $2500 I'll come out $200 in the black, but taxes will be higher on the newer bike.

The ride is currently a no-go, but the bike is finished and will be shipped to CR soon.

I love my 2012 Honda XR650L, it has cured my desire for an expensive dual-sport.

The Emig Racing kit with refreshed CRF450 forks is awesome. I switched up with a stock '99 throughout the East TN March Moto Madness weekend and the Emig/CRF front end is more accurate, responsive, and compliant.

The rear is lowered one inch with a link, the Seat Concepts is one inch lower, and the CRF forks are one inch lower in the triple clamps, this is good for the geometry and I can now flat foot it with most of my butt still on the seat.

The Barkbusters and crash bars/bag holders did their job when I dropped her on uneven terrain.

The FMF 4 slip-on with quiet insert and FMF carb kit is running great, even with all the smog equipment still in place. The kit comes with 160 and 165 jets, don't know which they installed but it went from 900 feet up to 3700 feet without missing a beat. Mileage was mid-40s per gallon.

Thanks to Pinnacle Honda of Bessemar, AL for all the work.
