Gentleman, and Ladies, (I didn't get to read all of the messages),

Some are amazed, simply because Ferrari owners are even discussing these cars we have. And some of us, hey, if some copycat "cues" are used for a design of a car, so be it, no harm no foul. In some parts of the country, (like where I am, Jackson, Mississippi) some people look at this car, as they would yours wondering "what it is", and it happens daily. And when you put the "really nice badging" that the Canadian and Korean versions have, it really confuses people. I ended up with a "special edition" 6-speed, and I would almost say that the "yellow" paint job, looks like Ferrari Yellow, I may have to find out one day.

But after the badging, it is known as the Tuscani Elise 2.7, yes I know, even though there is a Lotus with the name Elise..... Still to me that sounds much much better than the Spanish translation of shark- "Tiburon". I have owned fast cars for much of my life, and with the exception of two sport utilities, (the latter exibiting behavior in an accident that prompted me to not even put my kids in it anymore when I have them),so I decided it was time to go back to a sporty type of car.And after much much research on the internet, I arrived at this choice.

Now I can tell you, that she likes to "walk left and right" when you accelerate hard, (front wheel drive behavior I suppose),and I am in the process of "enhancing" the existing suspension components to help with this, and from what I have read, it is supposed to be notorious for understeer,(of which I really haven't noticed to much yet), but, I have been absolutely amazed at what this car can do, granted I am sure that the top end is nowhere near what your higher, and very very nice vehicles can do, but it is still impressive...(it has 160 on the speedo, but I think the top end is just above 140...around 222 klms)..but all in all I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinions, and when a car comes along that generates some buzz, well then I suppose the car maker did their job in a way. I am just like thousands of people that say "if I could afford one I would have one", of what you guys have the priveledge of driving........But, really, c'mon the buzz is really generated evertime I get to "see" a Ferrari....

If any of you guys want any more information about this little car,any questions, feel free to e-mail me, or post a thread. I figure that if no one else in our "community forum" would say anything to you guys I would. And I suppose that from the clientele of Ferrari owners, I shouldn't get some obnoxious or rude postings,or e-mails, like what exist on some of our forums from people a lot younger than I. But, like I said, it just amazes some of the people in our forum that Ferrari owners would even discuss this little car.

I have read articles about the styling cues being borrowed from a Ferrari, and everytime I look at it I do see that, heck I even thought about getting a personalized plate that said LLFRARI.....would have been nothing but pure admiration for truest of true sports cars.

And may I say that I absolutely love your cars! Take care and have a great day everyone!! Drive safe........

    Rob

I don't know why you guys keep ragging on American cars reliability.
I love telling my Supra buddies, espeically my freind who's a Toyo Master Tech that my 40yr old Chevy runs better then my 15 yr old Toyota. I really don't understand why people hate them so much. I can understand a Ford product, but a Chevy? I'd trust driving my 66 Impala across the great state of Texas more than my 89 Supra. Plus it's a lot more fun, and gets a lot of looks from people not to mention all the questions I get from it. I'm going to make a thread on Impalas later.

Oh, for those Tiburon guys, I've read that the 2.7s can only take 250hp, then they grenade! Is that true?

Since the Hyundai is supposed to be a Ford BS (that is bullsh!t BTW) thread has finally been cleared up ... all the Ford Pony jokes can be put aside ;). Thought I was going nuts there for awhile ... ;). I have been thinking a lot about Ford and Chevy and what, if at all have been their good cars, here is how I see it (a New Zealander's point of view):

    Good cars.

    Ford USA:
    Model T.
    Mustang.
GT40 MkIV (yep 100% designed and built in the USA, unlike the earlier versions).
Daytona Corba coupe ... but origin is English and European inspired.

    GM USA:
(motor) Small block v8 - beaut little motor that sounds fncken awesome at 9000rpm.
    55 Sedan.
    56 Sedan.
57 Sedan, Belair or whatever they are called.
Corvette - especially split window 60's coupe.

    Ford England:
    Ford Cortina.
    Lotus Cortina.
    Ford Escort MkI and MkII.
    Lotus Escort.
    BDA Escort ... dribble ;).
    Cosworth Capri.
    Ford Sierra Cosworth.
    GT40 Mk1 and Mk11.

    Vauxhall (GM England):
    Nothing!

    Ford Australia:
Drop nosed Falcon Coupe ... but a piece of **** underneath.
Falcon GTHO - again a piece of **** underneath but a racing legend over here.
70's Falcon 351 Coupe - I just like this for some reason, still a piece of **** underneath.

    Holden (GM Aussie).
Current Monaro coupe looks good, but that is all ... otherwise nothing.

I come to the conclusion that I feel very sorry for young car enthuisasts growing up in the USA and Australia, because their products are cr@p. Thus in conclusion the only reasons GM and Ford are at the top is because of the large brain washed American market ...

Without the English division of Ford, they would be utter cr@p like GM ;)

This post goes just to about every post after mine.
Lol, I'm sorry LAFun2, but when I mean American cars I mean Chevrolet. Errrggh not "American" cars. I should probably restate the question. I don't understand why you guys keep bashing Chevrolets. As far as 90s Chevys go, mines are still pretty solid. The 93 truck has 180k+ and starts up a immediatly on the first turn of the ignition. The 94 truck has 120k+ is a DD, and runs perfect, idles smooth and quiet. I would trust driving across the nation in the 94. The 76 truck runs just as smooth and quiet, and is a hoot to beat up on! Oh, and the 66 Impala is solid, except for those blasted busings!

    PSK,

You might find this article interesting (Or if you happen to like 60s Impalas) since it's a review of a 65 Chevy Impala convt from Oz. Oh, and thanks for the brainwashed comment.

    http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/portal/alias__carpointau/tabID__6485/ArticleID__5352/DesktopDefault.aspx

As far as Dodge, their trannies are complete garbage (baring the Vipers).

I'm assuming what I read about the 2.7s grenading after 250hp is true since I didn't get any Tib owners attacking my comment.

    Jamie,

Once again, you failed to see my point. Never mentioned American trucks. Ford trucks and Chevy trucks go 200K easy, and some even 300-400K.
    Talking about regular cars.

Perhaps, but I'm willing to put up with some performance hardships so a significant part of our national economy doesn't completely die. The ramifications of that would certainly be worse than not having a well handling car.

Chrysler's front wheel drive transmissions just plain suck, yes. Their truck transmissions have been pretty good to me lately though, and I would argue that they're every bit as good as GM's current offerings. Still, I'd rather have a 727 Torqueflite than a TH-400. ;)

Oh, and can't you Chevy lemmings complain about anything else? :D

Ahh ok. Yeah Americas FWD cars are crap. The FWD Caddy NorthStars however are solid, but they are a little buggy with the electrics. The Buicks are very good FWDers though. The JP FWDs are indeed better(not to crazy about Mazda though). But, the JP have a nack for making things a little more difficult to service though.

Dodges truck trannies until recently basically used a tranny that is 50yrs old!
Oh, instead of refining their vehicles, Chrysler does the only thing they know how, give it a bigger engine. :D

TH series are quite possibly the best trannies made, with variations and "borrowed" design used by many other car mfgtrs across the globe. Don't you guys forget Ferrari used a TH400 ;) If Ferrari thought them to be good enough to run behind their v12s then it must be good! :)

Sorry ... Aussies are just as brainwashed ;)

Mr Payne's comments are very right ... but in my personal opinion it does not cost anymore to make a decent car than a piece of cr@p, it does not have to be flash just have the basics right ... that is what the Japanese companies started doing and look at them now.

In the end I think I have been lucky being born into a country that has never and will never make their own car (NZ) because I have an almost unbiased look at what is out there on offer.

My oldest step son can not think past Holdens, because he is an Aussie ... and I guess as long as he is happy that is cool, but he has effectively given the car enthuisast inside him the death sentence ;)

well you can upgrade the engine just like any other car, most of the supercharger kits come with engine-beefing parts

im only sixteen, so you might not care about my opinion, but i have a tiburon, its given me no problems, granted its pretty new. And on everybody calling any body kit or appearance mod "ricey," im not sure you guys have a true sense of what rice is cuz well you have ferraris. rice from my standpoint is "all show no go" a POS show car that has a stock engine but with 20 inch chrome wheels, LED windshield sprayers, and a $15k stereo. lots of people are rice, but lots of people put performance mods on their Tiburons.

    thats my two cents.
and spelling mistakes happen all the time LAfun2, im sure youve misspelled something and repeated it a couple times, his point was valid, but you brushed it off b/c he misspelled soul, thats pretty cold.

Unless you actually use the car in weather aside from dry warm days.

I don't believe car mfr's employ FWD in cars because it sucks. I also don't believe everyone buys a car to race.

Then again I'm sure you have more insight than the automotive engineers that design cars.

    Hi Dr. Nick!

My question on the reason why the post was bumped was because I've heard the stock internals are very, very, weak. Haven't really gotten a definitive answer, but I assume what I've read is true.
