Hyundai Tiburon: A head turner?

Is that the one which looks just like a better-proportioned 612, right down to the scallops?

 

Couldn't agree more... I've always wondered why someone couldn't make an inexpensive car that looked good. Just because a car only costs $20k doesn't mean it has to *look* bad. Sure it might be slow, not handle too well, or have cheap interior bits.. but jeez... how much more expensive is it to pen a good shape? Cheers for Hyundai for breaking the mold, even if they do partake in much copycatting (can't tell you how many times I've pulled up behind a Sonata thinking it was a miniature Bentley )

I wish I had a pic of the one I saw with FL plates, scuderia shields and cavallino emblems.

 

I thought I read on this forum that it is a Pininfarina design, can't remember for sure.

My sister wants one, and she hates most "cool" cars (911, 348, F40, Pantera, etc) so it must be AMAZING...

Great car, if you live in Harlem, Watts, Oakland, parts of Miami. Its a Hyundai. When you are on the 80 frwy, Peter, take a look at what kind of people drive Hyundai excels of the late 80s/early 90s and you will get my drift.

Some things never change in this world, and Korean cars are certainly one of them.

1984 Toyota Corolla, 4 door, auto, 118K miles > Any hyundai ever made.

 

I had this feeling with the last generation Honda Prelude. I really love the way it looked.

Just remember its FWD...that little tid bit never sat well with me, it never 'felt right' in my hands.

 

This is simply not true. The Hyundai in particular has made great strides in both styling and quality. Check out the latest Powers ratings and it might surprise you.

As for the stereotyping, remember what they used to say about Japanese cars!

 

Actually no, the new tibby wasn't designed by Pininfarina. Oddly enough, they did do one car for Hyundai called the Matrix, and a version of the Elantra...as far as I know though, they had nothing to do with the Tiburon.

I dont like Hyundai's and I drove a coupe that was a couple of years old and it felt like a 15 year old car but this one looks nice, I wonder if they put it into production.

 

Yeah great strides in quality and styling...LOL. Styling isn't everything. Show me Hyundais that run 150-200K without significant problems, and I will start believing. THey are nothing but POS cars. THey might be better than Daewoo, Kia and other Korean manufacturers, but they are still terrible. Its like Carly Simon might be less fat, than other fat ugly women, but at the end of the day, she isn't Pamela Anderson, she is still a ugly less fat broad.

Japanese cars might not have the styling aspect, but they are utterlyl the most reliable cars in the world.

If you thought depreciation of luxury cars are bad, try selling a used hyundai in 2 years after you buy it.
