Coverage just starting in the UK, temperatures down in the 20's so everybody's got tyre problems
Good morning or in your case, good afternoon Andrew- The big question of the day has to be - is Alonso going to qualify or start from the pits full to the brim with fuel and a different strategy than others? Looking forward to a good qualifying. Carol
Hey Carol, hope you havent got up in the middle of the night specially? Have you guys not heard about MS allegedly overtaking 3 cars whilst under a red flag?..........if true looks like MS will get the same penalty as FA
Negative on the middle of the night - slept in this am - set alarm for 5 am. Thought about watching live timing for final practice but opted to read about it after the fact. Hadn't heard about that with the overtaking - nothing on F1.com about it nor on Autosport - I always go to Autosport before anywhere else. Makes one wonder if this isn't some sort of game afterall?!?! (I know there's games being played but this would be very obvious.) Any more on it from your end??? Carol Just flipped over to Autosport and how could he be so stupid???????????????? He just really screwed himself and Ferrari if he gets penalized for it - perhaps it's time to retire afterall. (never thought I'd say that!) Ferrari's Michael Schumacher has been summoned to appear in front of the race stewards at Hungary, for passing under a red flag. The third practice session was cut short with a red flag, after Jenson Button's Honda car caught fire from an engine failure. Rules state cars must slow down when the red flag is out, and proceed to the pits without overtaking on track. Schumacher is believed to have passed BMW's Robert Kubica as well as Red Bull's David Coulthard, and the stewards are currently investigating the matter. If Schumacher is found guilty, he could receive a similar punishment to that of his championship rival Fernando Alonso, who yesterday was penalised by the stewards for, among other, passing under yellow flags. For that part of his misconduct, Alonso will have one second (of a total two seconds) added to each of his qualifying times. * * * * * * no word yet and about 10 minutes for the officials to make up their minds on the situation
The latest totally dumb move of the day: Schumacher also gets time penalties Saturday, August 5th 2006, 11:51 GMT Ferrari's Michael Schumacher has been given a penalty ahead of today's qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The German driver will get two seconds added to each of his qualifying times after stewards deemed he had overtaken under red flags during this morning's practice session. Championship rival Fernando Alonso was also handed a two-second penalty to be added to his best laps in qualifying after a flash of road rage in Friday's practice. The penalties mean both drivers are unlikely to qualify in the top 10 on the grid at a track where overtaking is notoriously difficult.
Good morning all, haven't heard anything about the MS incident. Hopefully he has a good excuse to get off, otherwise there goes big points haul we all had been hoping for. Mark
If they both start from pit row, of course it would be Alonso - his garage is closest to the pit exit!! Carol
Well hopefully with the performances Massa has been putting out, he can take the checkered flag and still score some strong points for the WCC. Mark
Good morning all. This has to be the oddest race weekend in a long while. What brain-cramp was Michael suffering from? Incredibly stupid move.
I'll wait for more info, but I think it's fair to assume he didn't see the flags. not quite the same a road rage and brake-testing.
Out in Q1 - Yamamato, Albers, Sato, Speed, Rosberg, Luizzi I still can't believe the stupidity of the whole thing - Ferrari had it made and now they are screwed. Carol
You know, with MS turning a 19.4 and 10th being 21.3, he COULD sneak through into Q3. Tactically, that's probably not a good idea....
are there any live internet radio feeds of qualifying -went to formula1.com and there live qualifying times are apparently not that live thanks for your help guys -david
If FA got a second per incident, doesn't seem more plausible that MS would have only received a one second penalty? Mark
Tactically, he could get to Q3 and fill it up...the worst he would get is 10th on the grid. The best he could get in Q2 is 11th.
Did anyone else hear the SpeedTV announcers state that the rumor is Scott Speed may be out a ride in 2007, as Klein may be given his seat, Weber taking Klein's?
Won't happen though. They'll be 14th & 15th, mark my word. We'll find out who really wants the championship tomorrow. Damn, lap record for MS at 1:18.8. Will 1:20.8 get him in? No, but it was a great try. He'll probably start 12th on the grid. I think he's the one who really wants it!
