AP > * Hublot is not worth mentioning in the same sentence imho. There are a bunch of more modern sport watches, get a copy of the magazine "Revoloution". It's packed with modern watches.
I would say the Patek Nautilus is in the same vein, designed by Gerald Genta, the same guy who designed the original AP Royal Oak and the latest release from Daniel Roth called the Endurer Chronosprint, good looking watch, check out the purists.com's Daniel Roth forum for pics. S
The VC Overseas has a similar look. However, if you are looking for that look on the cheap, there are plenty of hommages around. -dsd
Well if your looking for a more affordable (for me) watch with the same style check out stuhrling original.Their APOCALYPSE SERIES is the same style. I really like their CENTURION it's a RM look.
It is for me. The first time I saw one I was like WTF? But the fact is, they are hot and my wife moves a lot of them.
I checked out the watches you were talking about... your right very similar designs and very very affordable. I'm not looking for a watch at all. I'm just not much of a watch person. I just found the Hublot and AP watches very nice. Thank you everyone for your responses.
anyone knows of any good prices for an AP Carbon? is it recession proof watches? am always on the look out for a bargain...
For me, the design is very similar to AP. The name "Hublot" is French for "porthole" as in on a ship, suggesting a nautical influence, yet they are good to only 5ATM which is barely splashproof. It's an expensive fashion piece with a mass-produced movement making it little more than a marketing project. In 10 years Hublot will barely be a memory. They have no technology, innovation or future. Their legacy is bolting odd materials together in a leaky fashion.
I see the similarities but there are a few watches that take hints from each other such as the Ebel BTR. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is why I'll never buy a Hublot. To copy another design to this extent is tacky and lazy IMHO. Oh and the one on the left is the Hublot. Its difficult to tell Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Its not difficult for me to tell. The hublot looks like it always has since the very beginning (on all models)....the only similarities are the bezel and screws and they arent even shaped the same. The dials are pretty much standard chronos.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak has been around since 1972. Hublots never even designed a watch until 1980. WITH THAT SAID; that first Hublot in 1980 was the FIRST watch to mix Gold and Rubber. And THAT is a concept that has been fully utilized by AP since. e
