I just got my boot kit from allferrariparts.com. But the bands they supplied do not look familiar to me and I have no tool I can think of to snug these up well. Does anyone know how best to tighten this style band? It appears I can only use my hands which does not seem good enough.

    Thanks,
    Bob R.

I have no experience with the pictured clamp. It looks similar to an oeticer clamp, that uses a proprietary crimping tool or a pair of Dykes.

I have used the Napa tightening tool with their stainless steel clamps with great success. Sorry, i don't have time to pull it up in my archives, off to work,

Now I get it! "FASTERISBETTER" just contacted me in the tech section and said to use parallel crimpers/nippers on the bumped out section to squeeze it after hooking in the tightest slot by hand. I am a remodel contractor and happen to own some tile nippers that will work perfectly!

Cool!! That's exactly what I was talking about!!! That should work. Just be sure you have them seated exactly where you want them. You only get one shot at it.

They are used on many boots at the gas pumps too. I didn't know how to install until I saw it right in front of my face while pumping gas. Good illustration.

When i got mycvs rebuilt, i was looking around for something to keep gradue and vichissoia out of the new cv grease and also something to keep the GD grease off of everything else as i worked them into position to mate up.

I had a few spare ziplock sandwich baggies laying about from prior efforts to corrall parts falling off of the old 308, so i tried one over the greassy end and it fit really well - enough for me to get the axle almost in position them whipped it off before the fit up.

    recommend it highly,
    chris

Very good idea, I also have one of those tile nippers, will keep this in mind when I do my CV joints in a couple of years.
