How to Remove a defective "locking gas cap".?? HELP!!!

    All,

    The locking Gas cap on my car developed a problem, and it won't come off.

    I moved the key to the unlock position, and turn it counterclockwise, still, I can't get the gas cap off.

    Is there any way to remove it. (I don't mind breaking the gas cap or the lock, but I have to get it off the car)..

    I had it happen recently on my maserati. The cap did have to be broken to come off. On the Maserati, the gas cap is the metal interior piece and a plactic "shell that connects to it with a rectangular plastic peg. The peg in my cap snapped so the shell just spun around. The dealer pried off the plastic part and used pliers to unscrew the cap.

    You guys are awesome!!!!...membership just paid for itself....


    I used pliers ...broke the platic top off ...removed the lock ....bent out the inner plastic cover and it came off...sweet!!!!
