I did a search and was not able to find the info I was looking for.

I am having my wheels powder coated soon and would like to raise the car and remove all four wheels at the same time.

I dont own a lift (I wish I did) so does anyone have any suggestion on how to best do this?

    Thanks in advance.

Here's what I did on the F430 when I pulled the wheels to get them chromed.

    Rear
    1. Back the car up on ramps (Race ramps or home made will do).
    2. Remove the belly pan.
    3. Jack up using floor jack on jack points.
    4. Place proper jack stands on the frame (I used shop rags between the stand and the frame to avoid scratching).

    Front
    1. Jack up using the jack points. I used a low profile jack so no ramps were necessary to get the nose higher.
    2. Place jack stands on solid part of frame.

Remove wheels and wait. Good luck. My car sat for 10 days as I had to ship the wheels from FL to CA and then have them shipped back once completed. I did not take any pics of it jacked up and now I wish I had.

Thanks for the great info Bill.

Do you have photos or better description on which part of the front and rear "frame" you actually put the jack stands?

Dan - Sorry no photos. On the front I mounted the stands near the jack point. It is solid there. On the rear, once you get the belly pan out of the way, you will see the solid parts of the frame you can use. I placed the shop rags between the frame and the jack stand to avoid scratching the frame surface. The next time I'm under the car with the belly pan off, I'll snap some photos.

    I use the following method

    1. Use rear jack points, lift car so both wheels on the same side are off the ground.
    2. Jack stand under the front jack points
    3. Wheel ramps under the rear wheels
    4. Jack stands under the rear lift points for safety.

If I am pulling the belly pan off I'll do front jack stands and rear ramps with jack stands under the rear jack points but not weight bearing for safety. I've also used front and rear ramps in conjunction with jack stands.

Oh, before you lift the car make sure you slightly loosen the lugs as it will be a PITA once in the air.

Thanks for posting photos. I just bought the same jackpoint stands and haven't tried them yet. Your photos very helpful.

Sorry this may be a bit of a stupid question, I may put my car on stands over winter for maintenance but never gone through the process, I understand where to place the stands as your pictures illustrate.
My question is, once you jack up one side from the rear side jacking point and place the first stand at the front jacking point, once you remove the rear jack the car will lower at the rear so the rear stand won't go in?
Is there another jacking point at the rear to raise the rear enough to get the 2 stand in place before doing the same on the other side?
Not sure I'm making myself clear??

I actually use ramps in the back to hold the car up until the belly pan is off then I place jackstands at the rear points for safety only. So it goes as follows

    1. Jack car via rear point until both front and rear wheels are off the ground.
    2. Place jackstand under the front point and ramp under the rear wheel.
    3. Lower jack slowly until car is resting on the front jack stand and rear wheel ramp.
    4. Insert jack stand under the rear jacking location.

I raise the side of the car, put the front stand in, and put a wheel ramp under the rear wheel, then repeat the same process on the other side. Then put the jack (with a soft wood spacer) on the rear cross member that you see under the rear of the car in the diffuser, near the bolted sides, and raise the car enough to remove the ramps and put stands under the proper spots. Done it many times and works for me...

People want to remove the rear wheels, right?

Yes, I use the wheel ramp method when not removing the wheels. If I am removing the wheels I use four jack stands. I'll leave the jack under the rear point supporting the weight and I'll use somewhere else around the same area that can support the weight for the safety jackstand.

If I had to remove the belly pan every time I wanted the wheels off, I would have sold the thing by now :)

Had to just do this yesterday! Trolley jack front right wheel. As it lifted managed to get a stand under the rear right. Then lowered the car. Then moved the trolley around to other side lifted rear left. Then stand under front left so we have two stands on opposite corners then left the jack in one corner too. So 2 stands a jack. I know this is far from stable but in controlled condition with no one else allowed in. And only to remove 4 wheels and quickly come back desperate times!

Thanks guys, its making more sense now, I was correct with my thoughts that at some point you need a 3rd and 6th jacking point (rear cross member) to get all four stands in place

I bought 4 low profile jacks from Sears. Use the four jack points and put a block of wood in the jack so if the hydraulics fail it will rest on the wood.

No problem. I actually picked up the jackpoint jackstands straight from John's place, super nice guy.

To perform routine maintenance (oil change, coolant, transaxle oil change, etc) I use race ramps (as ramps and wheel cribs provide higher clearance): 67inch 2 piece with the extenders and the 2-piece 10 inch wheel cribs. I'll post some pics likely next year when my car is due for service.
