    Hi Guy's,
I am wanting to fit a child seat in my 2000 model 360 Modena (UK spec car). It has the electric seats fitted.
I have checked my owners manual and also done a search on Fchat but although I have found plenty of nice photo's showing seats fitted, I am yet to discover any instructions on how to do this. My boy's are 2yrs and 8mths and the eldest has been wanting a ride ever since he started to speak!

In particular I want to find out if the vehicle has any anchor points. I have looked but cannot see anything obvious. My wife advises me that if the car doesn't have any anchor points none of our two child seats we have will fit properly!

If the car doesn't have any anchor points has anyone ever fitted some? I have looked and there is a square hole in the back of the seat runner's. Perhaps this could be used???

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the info Bill,
I assume your car is a US version? I have checked mine and I cannot see an anchor point on the firewall. Where on the firewall is this located?

Could this be just for the US market and not present on UK cars?

    Best regards

I would be more worried about the air bag, in Canada it is prohibited to put children of your ages in front of an air bag, be carefull an airbag can kill a child so young. I know later model 430's had automatic airbab turn off switches. If the airbaG sensed a child under 80 lbs. the airbag would turn off. I would contact your local child restraint authority and get the facts that pertain to your country

    BE SAFE !!!!!!

There is no anchor point on my australian spec 360 either... my kid is like 3.5 years old and heavy enough to ride in the front seat... I also secure the child restrain harness around the harness holes of my sport seat for extra protection (so the child seat and the kid will not be able to fly forward if the seat belt doesn't work)... and you just have to sit the kid as far back as possible.

Not too sure if we can retrofit an anchor point anywhere though... as I was told, the firewall isn't strong enough for an anchor point.

    cheers,

    richie

Thanks for taking the time to upload the photos, this has really helped. I can now see that your seats are different and I definately do not have the anchor point in my car.

    Thanks Richie,
This confirms my thought that not all 360's have an anchor point fitted. Looks like the US cars do and we do not!

Unfortunately I do not have the sports seats (with the hero slots for a race harness). My car has the standard type comfort seats with the prancing horse on the headrests and are electric. So that means I don't have anywhere to tie the seat down to.
Don't really know where to go from here....

I imported my 360 from UK when I emigrated to Australia and did quite some research prior to doing this to ensure I wouldn't have any issues due to the higher temp. I discovered that the UK and Australian 360 models are identical in every department except 2. The Australian cars have readout in Deg C (UK Deg F) and KMPH (UK MPH & KMPH). The Australian cars also have some insulation fitted in and around the engine bay! This is usually removed as it actually does more harm than good and traps heat in.

Reviving an old thread. I'm in the market for a 360, either Modena or Spider, and one must-have is the child seat anchor points. I'm located in the US and it appears our Modena cars have the anchor point behind the passenger seat, however, it appears the Spiders do not have the anchor point. A local mechanic informed me it might be possible to request/purchase an anchor kit from Ferrari NA. Has anyone explored this?

For the Modena owners who do not have the bucket seats with the latch pass through hole, how does one thread the latch strap back to the anchor point? Does the latch strap just go over and above the headrest (seems unstable that way) or can the strap reach the anchor point another way?

If anyone has installed a (front facing) car seat in a 360, I would love to see it.

    Many thanks!

Any child riding in a car seat should not be in the front seat of any car, especially with airbags.
I believe in most states it is also illegal.
Wait a few years when your child is older and can really enjoy the experience properly.

Thanks for the input. This is something my wife and I are comfortable with in limited circumstances, and from what I found, you can have a Passenger Airbag Exclusion Kit installed. It is also not illegal in my state for a child of my child's age to ride in the front.

If anyone has any experience with the seat anchor, please do chime in. Thanks!

Good luck finding the passenger airbag off switch wiring harness, that’s an extremely rare item and no longer available for purchase anywhere.

Can’t help with the child seat as I haven’t done it although I think about it often as I have 2 young boys

First I had the passenger seat airbag deactivated and I use one of those seats that uses the seatbelt to latch on. I don't use the bottle opener. I believe I have a Graco seat. The only downside to this as that the kids only want to ride in the Ferrari from now on :)

@550nitis, glad to hear some have made it work! My local mechanic indicated he could route the airbag connector to the glovebox and I could unplug it there, so if the switch is not available, sounds like there may be other options. I'd love to see a pic of the car seat installed if you have a picture handy.

Also, it seems not all US cars have the car seat anchor. This '99 on BaT does not.

See pic #101 in the listing. I'm not sure why some would have it and others wouldn't. I'm also not seeing any way to order that part online. I've asked my mechanic if he has any ideas on how to order one of those.

If I had to guess, I say that it was left off during a service or when the rear carpet was removed. Mine is a 99 and it has it. Here's the breakdown on the parts. Good news...the washer and screws are still available!

    Another year later...

I'm reading the manual for my 2000 360, and it indicates all Canada cars have the anchor. But only cars bound for the US market produced after 09/01/99 have them.

I'm also looking at how to (safely!) disable the airbag so I can put my daughter in a car seat in the 360.

The manual also notes "The seatbelts in the car have been designed and tested to protect people of at least 36 Kg in weight and over 1.5m in height."
36 Kg = 79 lbs. So if your child is 75 lbs, the seatbelts may not do the job you want them to, according to the manual. A car seat or other restraint would still be advised.
