I am curious as to how many of you use dashcams on your F Car.

    How is it wired up?

    Any issues with your car?

Essential equipment. Have it in all my cars, stops any insurance arguments. Even handed footage to police on one occasion where a person stopped in the middle of the road to exchange details with someone they had had a minor accident with, we passed them by 30sec before a taxi rear ended both cars and killed both drivers.

Blackvue front and rear in my 488. Easy to take power from rear vision mirror binnacle.

Dash cam is must in every car, I do not drive without one.

I use 4g dash cam connected via OBDII plug, there are a few on market with data plan. It has motion sensor and live view via app. I will get instant alert on my phone if something suspicious happened or I can view front/rear cam at anytime.

power magic on a couple, but the newer blackvue's have that functionality built in. I am a bit paranoid about battery drain so don't usually record when parked

I installed one after a guy on a motorcycle yielded the way for me at an intersection, to later throw himself to the street and file a claim to my insurance alleging he fell because I invaded his right of way. Unfortunately, Ferrari is a car that's readily targeted for fraud so, I instantly bought a dash cam, which I connect to the port when in use..

I pretty confused which one to get. Is there a nice one I can take between my Ferrari and daily driver vehicle? Most seem like a like or wiring to do

Not worth the hassle to switch. I have 3 for 3 cars

Blackvue is reagrded as the best one. Not sure though if it wise to hook up anything to a Ferrari

+1 too much hassle to switch, you need one for each car. Blackvue is the best IMO. Hooking up to a ferrari is no different to hooking up to any other car. Just don't have them running when the car isn't..

The only time a dash cam would be nice to have is for when the car is NOT running and you aren’t next to it. And there’s the problem… as doing that on Ferrari will guarantee battery and electrical problems…

Something like that would’ve come in handy to look at and see who or how nice of an ass sat on my hood at Supercar Saturday a couple months ago and left an ass print lol. No one has invented a battery operated 360 type cam that doesn’t need to be wired to the car yet?

I don’t see any point or reason for a cam while I’m in the car or driving. I’m not the police.

Just get a small 12v battery, a gel type or something for a child's car toy and connect a lighter socket female connector to it. Most dash cams come with the lighter socket male end, and set it up at the car show so you can remotely keep watch.

I was going to go to one of those spy stores and see what they have for wireless remote type cams.

Blackvue is a great system. I have it hardwired in the F8 for ignition and battery power, so it switches from parked to live mode automatically. It's not a terribly difficult install and I have no battery issues. I can see front and rear cameras on my phone at all times. It's on the tender in the garage and works fine anytime I park the car for a few hours. If you're parking for days without a tender, I would power it down.

Can you use just the battery as power? How long does just battery power last? Thinking of using just the cigarette lighter while driving and then battery when parked.

The optional power Magic Ultra Battery will power the cam for 30 hours while parked. You still need ignition power while driving and for charging the battery.
It’s really only necessary if you are parked without a tender for extended periods.

I'm not affiliated with the video links. Just some somewhat in-the-weeds comparisons that can be useful.

Should get some more info at 23:55 in the link above. https://www.vortexradar.com/best-dashcams/

This is also another link that may be helpful.

As info, my windshield is tinted inside. I had no issue mounting on top of the windshield film.

    What's next... cherries and blueberries

You better get yourself some mace too. You never know when you'll need it.

I usually have it on all my cars with the wires hidden in the sides of the headliner. The F8 has a leather headliner which worries me, will try to find a way around it without damaging anything.

Hi! Looking for a dash Camera for my F8S and really wanted to avoid hardwiring it...which one did you end up getting and was your dealer able to hardwire it for you?

I have one on all my cars

Hardwired into the fuse box with fuse taps

There's no reason to not have one given they're so affordable. You can get a basic cam + hardwire kit from amazon for like 50usd and wire it up yourself in an afternoon

No need to buy super expensive 500+ usd models.
